DSLmaster
First off all: I did not finish the game and would be gratefull, if nobody spoiles the end. I still want to download mods. I searched through the recent mods and toticed, that a lot of those mods contained minor or sometimes major Spoilers. For instance I won't take curi for a follower now. Why? Because a mod spoiled her Story for me. Now what do you guys think about that? I mean Spoilers on mod pages. Is it stupid to download mods even if you didn't finish the game? Or is it unfair to post direct Spoilers disguised as a mod? On the one hand it is my (or anyone else's) fault if we are looking for mods for a game, that we didn't finish. On the other hand shouldn't there be a warning like "that mod could spoil your game! Be careful" I am torn on that matter and am very curious on your opinion. And please be careful with Spoilers. It wouldn't be fair to spoil something in this Topic. ;-) Thx
micalov
Alot of the time its very hard to avoid spoilers with mods as alot of them may deal with plot points/spoiler materials.
Moraelin
As mica said, sometimes it's pretty impossible to avoid spoilers. E.g., since you mention Curie, any mod that alters her *ahem* post-op appearance, has to somehow say that. Otherwise people who never got that far, will think it changes the robot, and come back with some "OMG, doesn't do anything, worst mod ever, Curie is still a robot in my game" posts. Believe me, I've seen that kind of thing happen before. But basically even mods that just add some item somewhere, have to include at least SOME minor spoiler. E.g., take my old lightsabers for NV. I have to say SOMEHOW that there's a brain-dead guy called No-Bark in Novac, and the lightsabers are in his hut. It's not a major spoiler, but I already said that you'll pass through a town called Novac and there'll be a guy called No-Bark. It's not major per se, but read enough of those, and you'll know the name of every settlement and most NPCs in the game. But how do you avoid that? If you don't write anything, then people don't know where to find the stuff.
Athanasa
TBH, I've ended up accidentally spoiling the story for myself on the Fallout Wiki. Whoever put a "race" section at the top of Wiki pages needs to be shot... *Grumbles* But in all seriousness, you can't really avoid some minor-to-major spoilers. I do feel like I've lost some of the major good bits of FO4's narrative through spoilers (given that the narrative is pretty damn weak in a lot of places), but... I'm also glad I know to avoid certain places and quests until workarounds are modded in. I was just trying to find out what I had to do to progress a certain quest, turned out I was gated out by progression in another quest... and unfortunately, the page spelled out everything. SiNNeR
modders should be careful to not make spoilery stuff too obvious, especially in titles, and to be fair most seem to do so, at least as far as I've noticedsometimes though it can be difficult to avoid, especially when it relates to bug fixes in quests or changes to npcs/weapons/etc that could be spoilery in their very existance
