Halororor
I find that lots of people hate the game and don't play it because they can't run it on theyr machines. What do you think about the graphics and are you struggling to run it  Personally I hate the grass, so tall, can't see the loot and it's really performance intensive! Still I like the look of it so I scale down on the other options. :(
somesthetic
I play the game on a fairly nice laptop. I can run the game at 1280 x 800 widescreen on the default high settings and be alright. It still gets a little choppy in really heavy combat, but I'll deal with that in order to have the game as a whole look better.

Grass is probably the most demanding, but, like you say, looks amazing.
Voices
I played the game the first time on a machine that could run middle - low setting with low fps if it real crowded. Now I run it on 37" widscreen on ultra high with everything maxed and both times I was really impressed. It does take a hell of a box to do though. @POV Below(why make a new post) My usual upgrade logic is, when my computer can barley play the best games out on low time to upgrade lol. Povuholo
I have a low-mid end machine. I'm using distant land/trees/buildings, the object/items/actors/trees sliders in the middle, medium sized textures, reflective water and no shadows. I usually don't play with grass. What I like: The graphics look goodWhat I don't like: The system requirements. My machine is okay, but many people were forced to upgrade. Upgrading is inevitable when you want to play the newest games though. The graphics quality is great. I just don't like the style too much. Loved Morrowind's. SickleYield
I've been unhappy with the design sensibility (medieval Europe? Bleah), but I've fixed that to my satisfaction with mods. I LOVE the graphics quality. I built a new computer basically in order to play Oblivion on it, and I've never been sorry - the computer itself and the learning/troubleshooting process have both stood me in good stead. I play with the grass turned off; I don't like the look that much. There's also the fact that a computer good enough to run Oblivion at highest graphics settings is ALSO good enough to run with the CS, Blender and GIMP all open at the same time. Modding is not only possible but much easier. I can watch any dvd or run basically any program I could afford to buy. This is another reason why I would always go with the PC over console even with the expense - a PC can do so much more for me than a console even without considering modding (and I ALWAYS consider that ;) ). Peregrine
Love: uh... the grass was a nice improvement. Hate. Oh, where to start... 1) The complete lack of original design and Generic Medieval RPG art instead of Morrowind's interesting and varried designs. 2) The awful, completely unrealistic bloom and glow effects. 3) The awful, horribly overdone normal and specular maps. 4) The poorly done and way too resource-demanding view disances, which end up looking worse than Morrowind's fog. 5) Generally, the focus on exaggerated shader effects to reassure xbox fanboys that their console is actually doing everything the marketing promised, instead of realistic and innovative art design. Jonlissla
Love: uh... the grass was a nice improvement. Agreed, but for me it was the water. Nice reflections, instead of the standard total-blank-and-just-shiny-water-you-can-see-through-clearly. ;D Game developers should concentrate on the story a bit more, and a little less on the graphics... 'specially the system requirements...
thanateros
I wasn't too thrilled with vanilla Oblivion's graphics. The LOD textures were groteque (you really do want that LOD replace mod); the tiling in near distances was also poorly done (again, mods fix this). I hate the overall bloom effects, everything practically glows (Natural Environments curbs this a little but not completely). I would have preferred photorealism over overly resource hogging effects (the engine does support photorealism, why not use it). As for the lack of architecutral diversity; this is Cyrodiil, seat of the the Imperial Empire, I wouldn't expect there to be much diversity in the way of architecture.
