blasharga
Hello I guess i'm one of the people that really dislike the entire system behind settlements. I hate building, maintaining and and everything about it. I'm just not here to play sims/minecraft. I find it a cool element of the game, and makes you feel kinda accomplished, but having to assing people and such inside the interface is kinda "meh"... I was thinking, how about a mod, that in every village/settlement you have, there is a guy, computer or Mister Handy, that will auto-build or you can buy the next logical step for that city/settlement when a required amount of material is reached. Maybe have the entire thing be a "level" thing.Level 1 would be to clean up the place, this will give you scrap.Level 2 would make a radio tower, Generator and connect them.Level 3 would build more beds, get resource generation going etc. etc. etc. This would really ease my trouble with the game, because this way, with all the settlements i unlock and everything, it becomes too many chores and too little fun. duncanlambert
I'm bumping this thread coz I think it's an awesome idea (if vague). I LOVE the building in this game. I must stress that! But I got a full time job, and a pregnant wife who gets very irate when I do 6 hour shifts building my settlement. When I play fo4 I kinda wanna get down to some questing, rather then spending all my precious time creating something, that may be incredible to look at, but in the long run, won't actually help with my gameplay. Why must you be the only settler who is competent enough to want to build a home for yourself? Would all these settlers really be okay with standing around a field, complaining they don't have food, water or a dirty mattress to kip on? Or would they actually try and make a life for themselves, plant some food, or build some shelter? Was diamond city only created because a playable character had too much time on his hands? AtmaDarkwolf
yes, agree with this, even if itg lets you 'design' a template you can plop down easily and move on(IE a building with beds, lights, turrets, etc, a kinda player-designed prefab with all the necessities) Then you can just take settlement, plop down a few of the prefabs(if u have materials) and move on(I 'like' the concept of base building and such, but right now its so limited, and bugged, AND 'bugged' in such a way that it can corrupt your game-ctd upon load- and honestly, just don't feel the spirit of fallout when minecrafting in the wasteland. I'm sure if it was as originally intended, it would be fun, but as is it just feels like a lazy tacked on addition.
blasharga
I purposefully made the description very vague. But in the end, i guess i was thinking it could be a RTS/mobile game lookalike function (upgrade resource gathiering price: XXX, Make room for more settlers: price) and where you could import other peoples settlements and their settlement progress. Let's say i sit down and bite the bullet and build one awesome settlement up. Then i export it to the internet. Then i download someone elses super cool settlement "instruction manual/building plan" for another location (or all locations). I really hope this becomes a thing, or something similar. I just want to shoot things and loot. But i hate building and the building software in this game, and i envy the people with the cool building and their patience. duncanlambert
The problem would be how the settlement would expand? There are too many options for an ai to randomly generate expansions. The city would have to take scripted expansions to a final destination. I feel designing a script for an ai may just be far too buggy, and random. AtmaDarkwolf
yes thats why I suggested an alternative, a way to 'save' player made prebuilts (So you can drastically reduce the amount of time 'building' a settlement, and have it manage on its own for the most part once u plonk down the 'prebuilt') Prebuilt would be foundations, walls, floors, doors, turrets, guard towers, etc (all in 1) I think (at least right now and possibly forever? -) the worse of it is that 'building' and setting up a settlement blows junks, because most of the 'management' of said settlement is front loaded (with little to do AFTER its 'defended with resources' except the never-ending stream of minutemen quests/raids)
blasharga
Bump - after christmas, There are starting to appear some "snap'build" things in the Player-Settlements category. Like those, even if it would be pre-build constructions you could import that the settlers could use.
