DieWurst
Hey, this is my first attempt to make a small mod for myself and i don't know how to do it.. Now since cbbe is out i love playing my char with the vaultsuit but the boots are aweful, and theres no real military chestrig out there. so i planned to merge 3 outfits: vaultsuit + boots out of this mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6915/?) and the already ingame harness to imitate a modern chestrig. Is this possible and if yes, what do i need to do it? thanks in advance.
Aikospacerogue
Mod linked seems to be taken down. Wouldn't call this a 'small' mod by far, a small mod would be altering stats on a gun or something using the GECK (not out atm)What you want to do is alter meshes. To the game its gonna be a new item, soooooooo its a bit of a journey. Luckily for us there are lots of tutorials ! I'm currently watching this one the TL;DR would be ; -unpack files with the BSA unpacker http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/78/?-get nifscope fallout4 alpha https://github.com/jonwd7/nifskoped/releases-open in preferd 3D App and do the thing you do in those programs-port back to game The long would be lists of tutorials about adding new armor and clothes, also learning a 3D app. http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Category:Tutorials Hope this helps at least a tiny bit. DieWurst
okaaaaaaay that seems to be very...difficult for people who never used one of these programs.
somberX
Something like this wouldn't be too difficult, I'm terribad at explaining things so bare with me... You will need NifSkope and some kind of texture editing software like photoshop, or if your in need of something cheaper/less complicated paint.net should work for this.Read this thread. It really helped me, props to Mofakin for a great tutorial!Have some patience, spend some time learning NifSkope it's great for simple model edits like this.Edit: You'll also need B.A.E to extract files from the game. Alright, down to the specifics (sort of). The easiest way to pull this off would be to wear the 3 outfits at the same time so you'll probably need something like this (Might not work but it's worth trying). After reading that tutorial you should know how to make certain parts of clothing invisible (see where i'm going?) You'll have to add an NiAlphaProperty to the models and edit the textures so that everything but the parts you want are transparent. Now put on all the pieces and BOOM, new outfit! Let me know if you have any more questions or want to tell me how bad of a "tutorial" this is. Edited December 26, 2015 by somberX

DieWurst
Thanks for the replies, these helped alot but i got a problem.. it seems the vaultsuit is 1 big mesh/texture except for the yellow numbers and zipperthingy/belt. How can i seperate the shoes/make them invisible without beeing able to mark them? Sry maybe it is a stupid question but i never used such programs before. I think if you follow the tutorial of the postman bag you should be able to apply it to your project  . I'm not familiar with alpha mapping but the tutorial seems to answer this question. You'd basically hide the boots, like the tutorial hides the postman outfit. edit; spellz Edited December 26, 2015 by Aikospacerogue
