TexasSnyper
I just got FO4 for Christmas through steam but the game won't start. I click the play button and the launcher comes up with no problems. I can go into options and it auto selects Ultra for graphics. When I click play on the launcher it disappears but then Steam goes from "Fallout 4 - Running" to "Fallout 4 - Syncing" and then just "Fallout 4". I have verified integrity of game cache and my video drivers are up to date. I have not touched the .ini files nor have I added any mods. The game just simply won't start. Do any of you guys know how to fix this? TexasSnyper
I did the download, twice. No disk since it was gifted to me through Steam. I've also verified cache integrity.
DarksAnthro
Try running it as admin. I know it sounds stupid but try it. First right click the launcher via the desktop. Not through steam. Run as admin. Might have to go into the properties option and set it to run as admin and if run in compatibility mode is enabled. Disable it. I am not sure if you are using Windows, Apple's OS, or Linux. But for windows that should help.
TexasSnyper
That didn't fix it, BUT, what it did do was actually throw an error finally. It said something to the effect of, and I'm paraphrasing here, "X3DAudio1_7.dll is f*#@ed up and can't run" so I googled that, found out what I needed to do and forced the install of FO4's DirectX. Now it works.
