dagincourt88
I got this idea from a mod called Craftable Purified Water and Crops Shipments. I liked how I could craft these light-weight shipments from items produced anywhere in the commonwealth. Just for recap, a shipment is simply a piece of paper with 0 weight and value equal to whatever the shipment promises. For example, a single "Purified Water" costs 20 caps. A "shipment of 25 purified water" costs 25 times 20 equals 500 caps. Now, I have a habit of equipping my guards with combat armor sets. But I don't like having to travel all across the wasteland just to pick up that specific armor piece I previously stashed somewhere, whenever I find a guard not dressed to my liking. So, I thought of this idea, but I simply don't know how to make it.This "armor set" is simply a piece of paper that looks exactly like shipments (copper, steel, gears etc). Here are the sets and their components. Sets can be disassembled into components on a dedicated crafting station. You can use the chemistry station for now.Light Combat Armor Set:1 - Combat Armor Chest Piece1 - Combat Armor Right Hand1 - Combat Armor Left Hand1 - Combat Armor Left Leg1 - Combat Armor Right Leg Medium Combat Armor Set1 - Sturdy Combat Armor Chest Piece1 - Sturdy Combat Armor Right Hand1 - Sturdy Combat Armor Left Hand1 - Sturdy Combat Armor Right Leg1 - Sturdy Combat Armor Left Leg Heavy Combat Armor Set1 - Heavy Combat Armor Chest Piece1 - Heavy Combat Armor Right Hand1 - Heavy Combat Armor Left Hand1 - Heavy Combat Armor Right Leg1 - Heavy Combat Armor Left Leg Advantage:I no longer have to remember where I stashed my armor pieces. Whenever I kill a raider or gunner and pick up his armor, I can stash it in the nearest workbench. Then, after I craft these armor sets, I can carry them around indefinitely. Whenever I need the specific pieces, I "disassemble" them.Or, I can club all the armor I collect, turn them into sets and sell them off to vendors. NOTE: Helmets, Fatigues and Glasses are excluded because they may vary by rank. For example, I may consider my companions as "officers" and equip them with a Military Cap instead of a Combat Armor Helmet. I may even want to equip some guards with a regular Army Helmet or a Dirty Army Helmet. What do you think? This is such a fool-proof idea that doesn't require the GECK for Fallout 4. Moraelin
To be entirely honest, I'm not sure I'd make a whole mod for that. You can just make a batch file for each category of peon, and then click on them and run the batch. Just have "additem" instead of "player.additem" and follow each with an "equipitem" with that id, so they actually wear it. There you go. The fly in the ointment is that it's not easy to tell the game which grade of armour (light/medium/heavy) you want, and with what linings and materials, but that's not entirely a bad thing, since it leads to some diversity. So instead of having the category by that, you could have them by armor type. Like for example, have the guards in combat armor, the workers (which end up patrolling with the weapon drawn half the time) in metal armor with a mining helm, and the serfs in just leather. Or you could use FO4Edit to make your own duplicates of the armour pieces that only allow 1 combination.
