In turn, Peregrine, or someone else will likely come around and tear apart your argument, not because of anything personal against you, it's just a poorly structured argument.

You know me too well... now kids, sit back and enjoy the show!

<stuff>

This concludes the show. Lord Peregrine will be signing autographs outside, please form an orderly line at the exit.

No reason to pull out the ego friend... Yeah, I know... But in this case, when we're trying to educate someone in how to properly form an argument, coming off full of yourself only causes resistance. It was just a really bad argument he was making, so it was really a matter of time before someone who felt like it tearing it apart came along. And yeah, it had to be ripped apart by someone, or else people might actually believe that nonesense.

You mean after the Romans stopped feeding christians to lions, and before Christians had the ability to kill people who didn't follow their religion? I'm not up on history, but I think that was a very brief period relativly speaking. It didn't get questioned seriously before then because it was a cult practice which would literally get you killed. It didn't get questioned after because it was adopted and enforced by the Roman government, followed by others after Rome fell... But that is entirely beside the point.

At any rate, asking Peregrine to ignore poorly thought out posts is well and good, but doesn't change the fact that it's a poorly thought out post, and eventually someone will come along and dispute it, or rip it apart, atleast Peregrine, and a few others do their homework. Verses someone else who might find a few things wrong with the argument, make a poor argument themselves, and there's 4 or 5 pages of pointless bickering about little details, ignoring what that argument was about in the first place. It's just easier this way... Think of Peregrines posts as essentially "You are wrong... Here is why... Try thinking next time, and don't use references unless you know what you're talking about". Yeah, he could be nicer, but that isn't Peregrine, and the message might get lost between all those unnecessary words (kinda like some of my posts).

At any rate, the world isn't nice, being able to support your arguents with logic is a necessity for surviving in the world. Either learn how, and accept that any conflict is part of learning; or stop trying.

One word: WHY? Why should I consider stupidity and ignorance virtues, instead of the terrible flaws that they are? Why should I allow stupidity to continue without comment and potentially spread to other people?

I have a better proposal: how about people stop making stupid posts if they want to be ignored? If you don't want to be attacked, consider it encouragement to think twice about what you're about to post.

And as for your attacks on christianity, religion debates are sadly banned here, so I can't really comment on that issue... but I believe there's an appropriate phrase here: "Even a broken clock is right twice a day." Don't think that you can play the "fellow atheist" card and get on my good side.

This is a discussion, and it's on a forum. It's not a compilation of individual opinions. The whole point is to listen to other people's arguments, and react to it.
