Pervy Mods

SOS was a bit more clever in their presentation with their custom 'Guardian Stone' image. You knew what it was, heck it was even a bit funny. I can see merit in being literal, showing exactly what the mod is in-game but I appreciated the humor more-so than I would have a 'high-def penis in your face' image. They had those, just not as the main image that everyone sees.

Would be nice to see some presentations like that again, enough for people to grasp the intent of the mod while injecting some humor. A character posed just-so behind a bush of the plant variety would be fun and still let users know what they're clicking on *Edit: for the pubic hair mod*. I guess that's the main thing that bothers me about the super close-ups of the naked bits used as a main image, it lacks an entertaining presentation.

Yes, another close-up of a vagina on the front page!

Well I've been directed to the block CBBE content tag and it's now enabled; immediately my front page looks 100x more tasteful. Thank you! :D

I don't want to block all adult content because then I might miss mods like the Enhanced Vanilla Bodies (now that is how a mod with nude content should be presented imho) but it seems that CBBE content has little to offer me and too much to dislike especially since it's only for females. It's not for me.

Oh look, another Nexus MUST censor their content because underage kiddies might see it. Guess what, WE DO already - its called an age gate.

1. You must be 13 to sign up here. And we constantly get people whining about having to sign up. Now you why we FORCE you against your will to sign up, where by signing up you say you are old enough to be here.

2. In order to see that "Oh my god nekked cartoon people" content. There is a second age gate - you must be over 18 to see those. And the default is no adult content. Meaning you gotta do something first to see it.

3. We have filters LOTS of filters. Not just for mature content but other things you may not want to see that are not either adult oriented or mature content at all, just that you are not interested in seeing.

4. I suggest the Nude filter, NSFW filter and skimpy clothing filters if you don't want to see these in the hot files (or anywhere else) HINT!! you can turn the filters off and on whenever you want.

5. IF the author didn't set the tags - YOU can help us by tagging files. We really do appreciate people doing this.

Then we have moderators - people that watch for violations. (look under the avatar pic for a green Moderator label) But with hundreds of submissions a day we are not going to automatically catch everything. That is where you come in. EVERY mod (and every comment) has a report button where you can flag it for a moderator to look at it - it may not happen instantly, and the moderator may not agree that it is inappropriate content. If a modder forgets to set his mod as adult content, I typically hide it and tell him to fix it before unhiding. If he doesn't comply he can get banned. The rules do apply to the modders as well as the users.

Play the game with whatever mods you like, and allow others to play using the mods they like. Judging others for how they play a single player game that you will never even see is downright dumb. :whistling:

Wow,... you have a serious emotional attachment to those big boob mods to get so enraged.

That's... kind of sad.

More trolling. Whop-de-do. Actually, if you'd look at the history of the mods I've made or endorsed, there's not much of that. But, hey, that would involve some fact checking instead of just going for some self-righteous ad-hominem. Anyway, you can feel free to imagine whatever you wish about me.

What actually does get my goat is this:

1. there are people who actually provide some actual work, time, and (in the case of maintaining the site) even money to the community. I can respect the hell out of that

2. and then there are those whose only contribution is trying to play the rabble-rousing busibody, and elect themselves to tell those from #1 what they should actually be working on. And I have all the contempt in the world for these.

No, I don't think that professional busibody, entitled spoiled brat or professional outraged victim are actual skills the community needs. If you can't actually contribute something, that's ok too, but realize just that: you aren't contributing anything. You're not even a customer, since you're not paying them for their work. Much less some kind of boss who gets to say what they should be working on.

The comparison that comes to mind is showing up at a soup kitchen and complaining about how offensive it is that there's no vegan soup, or that the lady behind the counter is showing too much skin. Well, guess what? If you can't or won't help, doesn't mean you get to tell those actually donating their work and time what they should be doing.

I just got a message saying they didn't know how to block files using tags - And it may not be obvious to all.

As the tags may be different for different games you may have to do this for each game you follow.

1. Look in the upper right corner of any page on the File downloads for that game ( where you get the mods) Find your name - mine looks like 'bben46's account - click on that

2. In the drop down menu, select 'User Area'

3. In the new window look on the left and down until you find the 'Files' category. Click on 'Block Tags' at the bottom of the list.

4. On the new page click on the box for each category you want to not see. A check mark will show on any you have selected (clicking again will uncheck them)

5. IMPORTANT: after selecting all of the categories you want to block, scroll to the bottom and click on the green BLOCK THESE TAGS for it to take effect.

Done.

As a moderator, I don't block any files. But I do keep a bottle of George Dickle brand eye bleach handy.

I don't know if you're talking about the pubic hair mod or the Innies mod, but I've taken a look at the comments on the Innies mod and people have already requested the author to change it, but she refused to.

I can understand why she refuses, like I said the thumbnail is supposed to show what the mod does (Talking about texture or mesh mods) and a title image isn't really going to attract people to click on it.

For a thumnail alternative to the pubic hair mod that makes sure everyone KNOWS it's a pubic hair mod?

TECHNICALLY CENSORED BUT PROBABLY NSFW

This

It's a 'tastefully placed' cartoon cat face.

There. Now everyone knows exactly what the mod is, without having a face full of vagina.

Exactly! After seeing that, I could never not giggle at Guardian stones. Given human history and our tendency to make phallic objects, my headcanon decided that, "Yeah, ancient dicks everywhere. Good to see nothing's changed." And I continued in a world where I prayed to artistically carved rock phalluses for buffs.

Honestly, once the inevitable 'male enhancements' roll around, I'd be dissapointed if they didn't make a picture involving the Red Rocket sign, and a Cherry Nuka Cola bottle, and a man in the "draw me like one of your French women" pose.

Stick some Tanberries (if you're going 'Lore Friendly') as fig-leaves to cover the necessary parts. Got a man with his junk out? Stick a nice cool bottle of glowing Nuka Cola over it for your thumbnail. Or a baseball bat. Bottle-cap nipple tassels. HD asses, complete with anus? Take a bum-shot, then dump a blinding lens-flare up that ass crack. "Our asses are so amazing, they outshine the sun!" Or, because fallout, a nuclear detonation. "Our asses will blow you away!" / "She's a real atom bomb gal!" / "Atomic Ass."

All 'tastefully' done, of course.

If people spent some time thinking about imaginative and amusing marketing for their mods, you could be scrolling through the lewd mods giggling like an idiot rather than reaching for the eye bleach.

That's a good one, you could try suggesting it.

But sadly I don't think this topic is going anywhere. You're always going to get the same answer; 'Put a (adult) filter on' which is IMO only half a solution. There are a lot of filters available that can very specifically block out the mods you don't want to see, but on the other hand, I'm not sure if that is an excuse for authors to use really explicit thumbnails because people can just 'block them out anyway'.

eh, I'm a bit pissed, it being Saturday night and all. But wouldn't the best solution to all this to be to work out a system whereby no nsfw images are shown in a mods banner. Honestly most porn sites know better than to decorate their front page with stills of gaping vaginas and angry photoshoped dicks.

I think the better alternative is to just get more mod authors on board with the idea of what Athanasa and GreenLion suggested. It makes sense to want to put the image of what the mod does up front. No nonsense "you get what is on the tin".

I laughed pretty hard at SOS. I used it along with CBBE in skyrim. Hell, both are still in my loadorder.

But see, outright censorship is never the answer. It just causes more problems.

If people really have a serious problem with the pub-hair or innie's mod, go to the mod author with an image you created as an alternative. (I know someone mentioned she refused to change the image) but perhaps if someone offered her up an alternative that she felt was fitting to showcase her mod without compromising her intention.... Who knows?

Offer to help, not just call for censorship.
