Vault Girl Mod Development Thread

Great work on the mod and thank you very much for its continued development. Really enjoy it. I think I've been using this since you first put it out there - and my game would feel weird without it at this point.

The below is an issue I've run into, but the options are easy to find and manually install in the archive so It's not much of a problem - just mentioning in case it isn't known.

This may have been brought up before and I missed it, but ModOrganizer2 doesn't like something in the fomod, so parts have to be installed manually (for me, at least). Didn't work out trying the alternate fomod installer, either. (Though MO2 could certainly be at fault, considering.)

Most of it installs, but some options selected aren't placed in the correct structure. The ones I've noticed this time are the files for the DEF_INV, DEF_HUD and the body option (so in game you have the generic body ...though oddly the selected head appears on the stats...with the original body. Kinda creepy). Not sure if the option for Dialogue Lite took, last time I also had to overwrite a couple other files, but didn't keep the log and updated that one before I checked in game.

Below are examples of the errors it throws (depending on selection, of course); and drops most of the optioned files In a folder structure headed with "Interface Options" or "Stat Options":

03:41:07 [C] failed to extract Vault Girl Mod F4 - Alpha 1.8\Stats Options\Body\Bounce\interface to interface: interface not found in archive
03:41:07 [C] failed to extract Vault Girl Mod F4 - Alpha 1.8\Interface Options\HUD\DEF_UI\16x9\interface to interface: interface not found in archive

I don't know if that is just in the imgur gallry, but some of the animations have (partial) black outlines, while other haven't. Most notably the Paladin Danse animation and the two above.

This is just to make making the perks easier and I do it on perks that are only views on the black background of the pipboy, so it won't be visible in game. :)

I've been using the Nexus Mod Manager, so this is the first I've heard of this issue. Anyone else seeing this problem?

Not sure why one mod manager would work fine and not another. I used the FOMOD Creation Tool to make the FOMOD.

What's really odd is that it's successfully putting the head in and not the body, since those use basically the same file structure.

Update - it was bothering me, so I backed up and tried again. Seems to have worked the 2nd time I disabled MO2's fomod Installer and used the NMM-based one that's available from the options. It still created the extra folders, but also got the files in the right place to function in-game this time.

when/how will you be integrating these animations into the actual perk chart?

When? I don't know, depends on when I figure out how to do it myself.

How? Well I'm not super sure, I've had some problems with it in the past not working. Presumably the same way these modders did it:

Also if people desperately want a Vault Girl perk menu mod right now, just go get ruthless' mod. It's pretty similar. It's the first link above.

Edit: It looks like lazyradly has made a short guide to editing the Perk Menu. Hopefully that will help me edit it without screwing up the file.

I've only played for maybe 15 minutes. I love this mod. Works as advertised and I have so much respect for the author of this mod. I must admit I'm curious if there's even a ballpark ETA for the SPECIAL tree replacers?

Thanks! I'm glad that you are enjoying the mod. Sadly no ETA on the Perk Tree. I will post about it if/when there is eventually any progress on that.

Question: Would this make things easier or harder for you? http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20309/?

I haven't checked this mod out yet, but it looks really interesting and there is already some interesting stuff for it. The description says that it has an autopatcher to make the hudmenu compatible. I don't think it would change anything for me since this focuses on the hudmenu and I've already finished that. It looks like a mod worth checking out though.

So how do I get this mod and the HUDFramework to play nicely together? Mainly I want to know what order to install Vault Girl UI, HUD Framework, and DEF_UI.

from my current testing its DEF_UI>Vault Girl UI>HUD Framework(using the injector method listed under optional) although my first encounter of an issue is one of the perks in the perk tree has turned to a white vault boy standard icon without animations might need further testing to see if made an error somewhere

looks like the issue i previously encountered is unrelated to HUD Framework but instead with a sorting mod which i didnt catch earlier although the install order as recommended remains
