Stormbow8821
Would someone around here please release a compatibility patch between Mining Motherlode and Mining Flames? Vonwarr (Mining Flames' author) has granted his permission to whomever may be able to do it on his mod page. I haven't been able to get in touch with Gookiemonster (Mining Motherlode author). If compensation is required, I'm sure we can come to some agreement. Edited January 3, 2016 by lordstormbow
Stormbow8821
As far as I can tell, the Mining Flames mod has one tiny change: mineOreToolsList has spells added. There's nothing else at all to that entire mod. When I added that same change to the Mining Motherlode mod, no effect. So clearly this kind of modding is beyond my comprehending at this point. Would someone please help me out here? Edited January 3, 2016 by lordstormbow
IsharaMeradin
Based on reading the description for Mining Motherlode, it replaces the stock script rather than modify it. I know that they stated in the CK wiki that it is best not to modify stock scripts. However, in this instance modifying the stock script allows for greater compatibility with mods that add ore veins. That said, attempting to see how to make two mods compatible when one is already incompatible with many mods is not something I wish to delve into. I'd rather suggest an alternative that may be just as beneficial but perhaps with less ore gain (tho that could be changed if necessary)... You could try my Random Mining MCM mod where you can set how much ore you want to get (up to 20 ore max). That mod will also allow you to get experience for using a magic mining spell. You could use my Mining For Mages Redux mod or any other magic mining mod that adds its spell/projectile to the MineOreToolsLIst (just install the Random Mining MCM mod afterwards to ensure script priority). Himeki
I can suggest a different pairing of mods that you may like.Mining for mages - basically mining flames spell with extra bits. Should work with "mining motherlode" due to the way it was made.Random Mining MCM - use in place of "mining motherlode" and with the above as a combo. Not exactly like motherlode but should work well. Edit: Curse you Ishara, you beat me to it! I was suggesting your mods and had to deal with something else, came back and hit post after you! (Leaving what I put anyway) Edited January 4, 2016 by Himeki
Stormbow8821
Thanks @IsharaMeradin and @Himeki. I'll check those out. I haven't had the best of luck with SKSE. I guess I'll have to try to figure it out again. Edited January 4, 2016 by lordstormbow
Stormbow8821
SKSE released on Steam FTW! None of the problems I had before with SKSE. I've got those 2 mods working, though it seems I can't use Flames anymore for mining. (I used the console, gave myself the Electro-Mining book.) Is there any way to get Flames back for Mining? IsharaMeradin
Remove the Mining For Mages Redux mod and go back to a save you made before adding it. Just make sure that the MineOreScript.pex file is the one from Random Mining MCM and you should still be able to use the Mining Flames mod. The two mods are incompatible where the MineOreToolsList is concerned. An alternative solution (if you want both), is to load both Mining Flames and Mining For Mages Redux in TES5Edit. Locate the MineOreToolsList form list and copy the record from one of the mods into a new patch plugin as an override record. Then copy over the other entries from the other mod. Thanks for all your help! I'll take 20 ore and Flames. :D (Though I'm going to do the TES5Edit thing some time in the future, for practice.) I sent you a donation for the help. <3 Maybe you can have a coffee on me or something. haha Thanks again!
