HasanAlameh
Hey guys, So after thinking i decided to overclock my laptop's GPU without damaging it, so i increased Base Clock offset to +135 MHz and Memory Clock offset to +199 MHz. After opening the game it still ran at 25 fps as before overclocking and not a single thing has changed. Specs: Intel core i7 5500u @ 2.4GHznVidia Geforce GTX 850M 4GB DDR48GB RAMWindows 10 I would do anything to make the game run fast, i want at least 40 fps if achievable (i hope so) and want to use mods. Thanks :)
Gracinfields
Well you are running on a Mobile graphics card they tend to have less power, then their desktop brothers. It would also help to say what game you are trying to get more fps out of.
HasanAlameh
I'm trying to get more fps on fallout 4 with around medium settings, but all people who have the same gpu say that OC did a difference for them
HasanAlameh
And if you can please post a full detailed guide on overclocking my GPU to the maximum safest values
obobski
There will not be a uniform "maximum safest value" - it will vary from chip to chip; that's why its overclocking. "Maximum safest value" is whatever the chip was binned and shipped at from the manufacturer. Some questions for you: - Are you certain you overclocked the nVidia GPU (which I assume is what you're running Fallout on) and not the Intel's built-in GPU (which may be running your non-gaming desktop).- Have you monitored the GPU's clocking via GPU-Z? Given that you're dealing with a mobile system it is likely that while you did increase the maximum offset values, the GPU will never hit them because it is thermal throttling or being forced into a lower power state (e.g. when run on battery). Overall what you're experiencing is the big limitation of notebooks for gaming, and even with a successful overclock you are unlikely to see a 100% gain in performance (that is, more or less, what you're asking for) - since it's a notebook there is almost certainly no hardware upgrade path, apart from buying a whole new machine. DaRkTrAzZ
being a 1st gen maxwell along with being between entry level and mid tier, you'll need more power to boot.thermal throttling really has no workarounds, if its throttling even with adjusting the fan profile theres not much else to be done except for putting in higher end thermal paste (if you want to try your hand that is).the 965m would be the sweet spot for a gaming laptop, but laptops with that chip are between $1000-$1200 at the least.
