uedftus
so what I've been doing is re-texturing a model and then saving the dds files and starting F4 to find the model, ie weapon or creature and screenshot the changes. I'm thinking there's a better way to do things? I don't run Steam with the game so I can't hit F12 and take a nice automatic screenshot... I'm taking pics of my computer screen with my phone and quality suffers specifically working on a version 1.1 of my gold deliverer reskinhttp://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7557/? Is there a program I can load the model I modified into and take pictures that way? Or renders of my new texture?? Do you guys know what I mean? Is that what NIFskope is for? Thanks
Guest deleted2588518
Nifscope allows you to add textures to a mesh on the fly. So yea, that's not all its for but you could use it for that.
vervurax
NifSkope is an option, but it will not look the same as in game. Steam is not the only option to take screenshots, your best bet is to install Fraps, MSI Afterburner or whatever program that's capable of taking screenshots. Set whatever hotkey you like and problem solved. Screenshots will go directly to a folder you specify. Method 3 of 4 here http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Fraps-to-Take-a-Screen-Capture shows how to set up screenshots, you can disable FPS counter and recording if you don't need that. Aikospacerogue
Don't use steam overlay its rubbish ... Just pres the Prnt Scrn button on your keyboard and navigate to 'Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4' to find them. Hell they are even in PNG format this time around so no more batch converting useless over sized BMP's, Beth is making things easier with every release. If you do not see any screenshots its time to google about Fallout4.INI file and how to change Ballowscreenshot=0 to Ballowscreenshot=1. Save it, and make read only so the game can't change it back when you're not looking. Bonus , open the command console for more funtai - toggle AI, makes NPC's stop moving (aka braindead mode) tcai- toggle combat ai, NPC's keep moving but nobody will attack anything, sweet sweet boring peace. ftc - flying cam mode tfc 1 - flying cam mode while NPC's , and your char, are frozen (unlike tai they freeze in motion making it great for action shots ) sucsm 5 - insert a number 1 to I think its 20 to control the speed of the flying camera, 10 , 5 and 2 are very nice . People like beautiful screenshots before they download a mod so its best to get familiar with these :) Usually Nifscope is used for previewing but for me its not showing textures, funny enough on both of my computers. The order of folders matters, though so this could be a problem. I can show you my setup in a few hours if your interested. I've done video captures before but seems silly to load up the capture software, run fallout4, and just snap a few pics. I have a feeling running both programs at once I'll get getting single digit FPS
uedftus
Ok well got some slightly better picsIs there a console command for stepping outside players view? I mean have the camera wandering around so I can capture pics of the player holding the weapon? Those would help a lot
dabigpit
PrintScreen key (the one on the right of F12 in normal keyboard layouts) gives you screenshots in many situations. Fo4 save a png screenshot in the main game folder, windows put the current desktop in the clipboard for you to paste into your favourite graphic app, etc. It's the original purpose of that key back in command line interfaces and it was inherited by many programs after GUIs were developed. For the free camera in Fo4 type tfc (Toggle Free Camera) in console, you may also want to use tc (Toggle Control) to stop/start controlling your char in many cases.
