volksjager88
(hoping a DLC may cover some of this)would be great if you could use the Minutemen or Railroad to seize control and keep the Prydwen and Instituteor perhaps install yourself or Danse as elder and take over the BOSyou could be General, Elder and Director all at the same timeseems a total waste to blow up 2 of the best facilities in the commonwealth
AtmaDarkwolf
lore wise, i don't think its at all possible to keep the prydwen. Destroying it is a big 'fvck you, don't come back, ever' to the bos, and if u do NOT destroy it, it will always be a target they will want to come get, because the 'value' of recovering it far outweighs any loss. Destroying it is about the only way to both hit the bos hard enough to cost them (in troops and value) and cripple them (due the huge cost such a loss will result in) I just do not believe there's any feasible way to 'keep' the airship and NOT end up with glaring plot holes that can't be filled. The institute on the other hand, not sure, that whole story line seemed rushed, and I still wonder, WHY destroy that one easy source to pretty much repair any and all of the commonwealth problems, a absolute goldmine of info, resources, personal (NOT just synths) - end diseases, cure hunger... just makes very little sense in that the institute was 'blown up' - seems little more than a tantrum induced decision
Nathan000
I also would suggest a mod to solve the "kill everithyng" in a more realistic way. For the Brotherhood I think a questchain should be implemented where you rise from a stranger to a real counselor for the Brotherhoods behaviour in the Commonwealth. I think it is not necessary to gain control over the Brotherhood but to give them limits in the way they interact with other fractions. There are console commands to befriend or daemonize fractions, so that should be possible. For the Institute it should be similar. If I am director, my way is the way to go and if the members of the Institute do not listen, there are the Minuteman or Brotherhood who can be installed as executive of my will. Another way could be to bring the Institutes members to a point where they see how inhuman it is to kidnap people and replace them by Synths. I also would like to accept them their creation, the Synths as new form of intelligent life, maybe allow them to emigrate to a new settlement where they can advance themselfes further. And finally the Institute should use their ressources to research solutions for radiation damage, the Supermutant cure and body part/organ replacements to cure diseases. All those things would in my opinion be ways worth a highly educated and ethical superior kind of people. All thats implemented now into Fallout 4 is a (un)subtle way to tell every player conscious and subconscious - violence is the way to settle all problems and differences in the world. Which is just wrong, because force always leds to counterforce as everybody can see in the middle east. The destabilization of Iraq because of political lies drove a whole section of the planet into countles wars and terror. All just that some militant and weapons producing and exporting countries can rise their economic growth - an illusion if all is summed up. SirTwist
Personally, I would like to see a smaller version of the Prydwen coming up out of the Boston airport, and Maxson leaving, and you take command in that ship, rather than the actual Prydwen. Mordorkin
I was wondering the same thing about the Institute when I got that far in the story. I wanted to kick out the current staff and replace them with people that weren't quite so... ethically challenged. They just had too much in the way of resources to help the Commonwealth to throw away that easlly. It would have at least been nice if there was an in story reason why you couldn't. Anywho, I would love to see a mod that lets you do something like that. Somewhat tangentially it would be cool if after the main story you could use the Institute's resources to develop new tech and such. I will be excited to see what people come up with when the GECK comes out!
