So I just beat Shivering Isles...

And the ending is leaving me a bit bewildered.

If not dissapointed, but I'm not gonna dwell on that fact.

So I defeated Sheogorath's alter-ego in an epic final fight to the death to help him get over his Schizophrenia... and wtf?

Turns out Sheogorath was the alter-ego of Jygalag all along? And by defeating him, I'm setting him free? And taking Sheogorath's place? I mean, this all sounds like it goes against the classic Elder Scrolls lore that makes these games so great.

A random, mortal adventurer is suddenly now a daedric prince, and the rest of the Isles just lets him as if nothing happened? I mean, arn't Daedric gods supposed to be ancient-as-hell ethereal beings born out of a conflict that created the universe and existence as we know it? How can just any mortal adventurer take on that kinda role? If anything else, the Isles are going to have to get used to a much shorter period of rule than they've been used to since, oh I dont know, all of eternity.

So what's going to happen to Sheogorath? Is he just gone forever now, to be replaced by Jygalag in future TES? I've never even heard of Jygalag up until the Shivering Isles- the decade-plus compilation of TES lore never once mentioned Jygalag up until a few months ago when the XP was released! And come on, we all know we dearly loved Sheogorath. Aside from say, the Gray Prince, Naked Nord, and Vivec, Sheogorath is practically the most memorable charachter in the whole TES series. He had a great sense of humor, clever dialogue, razer-sharp wit, and really was just as fuc&@ng crazy as he was supposed to be. And the way his charachter is "killed off" is just... anticlimactic.

So yeah, I'm asking any of those learned scholars of TES lore to let me in on exactly what's going on here. And maybe their opinion on the Shivering Isles ending as well. Is this just crazy, or is it just me? Or is having the player utter that statement the whole point of this ending?

You can try wrapping your head around the idea by considering that Sheogorath isn't a Daedric Prince. Never was, never is now. Sheogorath was just an artificial manifestation created by the curse.

Now that the curse is broken, the idea of a Sheogorath endures by having some mortal champion (you) take up the reins in what is a tad little more than a figurehead capacity— albeit a fun, interesting one.

yeah i was desapointed too. i was like:

Me: what now?

Haskill: humm.... my lord, you are now our new ruler so there isn't anything left to do....

Me: really? hmm..... oh i know! what about that guy in the library? can i kill him? plzplzplz.....

H: not really my lord. your job as the new sheogorath is to protect the citizens.

Me: oh yeah that's right *thinking about something to do.....*

*an hour later, everything was destroyed*

so you can see how disapointed i was....:(

but nevertheless (spelling?) the expansion it's still fairly decent of course.

and about jyggalag... i think you have a mod request to make......

.....that can turn out in many different ways:

1st: a witch madman set the curse of jyggalag on you this time, will the isles fall?

2nd: Jyggalag is preparing to attack you! Defend yourselfs!

3rd: you are going to attack jyggalag to prevent a attack on the isles

4th: *insert ideas here*

so think about it........

Ps: can anybody post the site of mod requests? (i know, it's silly to go tell people to go to places where we don't where it is :P)

Pss: i strongly recomend reading the third line in my sig

*dread guy*

Interestingly, if you try the Sheogorath Shrine quest after you have played SI and won, you get Haskill telling you what to do. So Sheogorath has definitely gone. Pretty much leaves Sanguine as the only one that could raise a smile left.

Maybe someone needs to seek out the other daedric princes and get then to curse Jyggalag again. Have to rename him 'a ghost hero' or something so as not to confuse the issue.
