As I wanted to uninstall the mod from my game, something wierd has happened to my third person view. My camera position is stuck to one spot and moves only when I walk forward. When Im standing still I can see my compass moving but not my camera. I found out it was becouse I uninstalled the mod when in first person. I had my lession to always read uninstall guide before I do anything. But now the problem is I can't get it back to work anyhow. I tried many combinations to install it back, go into third person, save and then uninstall, but when I get back that third person is still messed up. When I install the mod I third person is then ok, but I don't want to play on this mod becouse there this uncomfortable feature that you can't turn when standing, so I have to move to do 360 spin.

So anyone knows how to fix this becouse it's really bothering me :/

Re-install the mod, load your character, save in 3rd person in a new slot and then uninstall according to mod author's instructions?

EDIT: sorry, it looks like you already tried that. :sad:

Maybe re-install and load a save from before you first uninstalled it and then do the above? You might lose a few hours, but it's a lesson well learned.

Didn't work :/

Maybe it's something about the files or camera positioning in these files? I remember playing around the files of this mod, but can't recall if it was before my third person was messed up or after.

You may need to edit or remove any [CAMERA] settings from Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini. You should also delete any ini files placed anywhere by the mod itself. My Skyrimprefs.ini does not have any camera settings, but who knows what a Camera mod might do?

If you installed the mod with a Mod Manager (and have it installed now):

  • I'd load a save from before you uninstalled it,
  • save it in a new slot in the correct POV and exit,
  • then uninstall the mod with the mod manager.

Then look for any ini files the mod may have left behind and delete them (I do not use Mod Managers, but I think they are supposed to do this anyway).

Then check Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini and default the camera settings back to Vanilla.

They MUST be the Skyrim and Skyrimprefs ini files in the game folder. The default is location is C/Username/Documents/My Games/Skyrim
Do not mess with any others as they will have no effect. They are backups, placed in various places to confuse you. ;)

The easiest way to default to Vanilla, if you have not heavily tweaked them, is to delete both ini files and let the game recreate the defaults.

Otherwise, if you have tweaked shadow settings, vsync, FoV, mouse etc, make back up copies on your desk top or somewhere else well away from your Skyrim install, delete the ones in:

C/Username/Documents/My Games/Skyrim
and let the game recreate them, then you can copy and paste all the other sections from your backups into the new ini files, leaving the CAMERA settings as they are.
Then check anything like BASH patches, LOOT or BOSS esp ordering etc. You may have to re-sort your mods and make a new BASH patch.
After doing all that, you may be able to load any save and your camera settings may be OK again.
I have never used this mod, but I have heavily tweaked my ini settings. This is a cautionary tale on reading ALL mod author instructions VERY carefully, both before installing AND before uninstalling.
Good Luck, and please let us know how it works out. :D

By the way, these are my settings from Skyrim.ini. I like being able to scroll right in and way out very far and very quickly. I have no idea how these relate to Vanilla, as it must be three years or more since I had a Vanilla ini setup. I do not even remember where a lot of these settings came from, or if any of them conflict.

[Camera]
fOverShoulderAddY=0.0
fOverShoulderPosZ=18.0
fOverShoulderPosX=0.0
fOverShoulderCombatAddY=0.0
fOverShoulderCombatPosZ=24.0
fOverShoulderCombatPosX=0.0
fOverShoulderHorseAddY=-72.0
fOverShoulderHorsePosZ=50.0
fOverShoulderHorsePosX=35.0
fActorFadeOutLimit=-100
fMouseWheelZoomSpeed=100
f1st3rdSwitchDelay=0.1
iHorseTransitionMillis=001
fVanityModeMaxDist=20000.0000
fVanityModeMinDist=15.0000
fMouseWheelZoomIncrement=0.0100
fMouseWheelZoomMinDelta=0.0050
fMinCurrentZoom=0.001
Also, which mod is it, exactly?

Is it this one?

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49036/?

That just seems to have a script and a dll:

IFPV.pex

FirstPersonPlugin.dll

So, if there is no esp, you do not need to worry about load order etc at all.

Having the mod installed, loading a save from before you removed it, saving as mod author says, exiting the game, removing those files and loading the game should remove it.

I hope the script is not baked into your saves... >:8o

Yes! It's fixed. I did what you said about deleting the script and .dll files and also those .ini ones. And it's back to normal.
Thank you so much, finally I can play in peace. No more camera changing mods :D

I owe you one :thumbsup:

Excellent! That's really good news.

And, for future reference, it's really important to read the mod author's instructions for installing, using and removing any mod. ;)

One of the best follower mods was the original UFO, which got broken by official Skyrim patch 1.9. But before that it got broke when I installed with NMM and weird things happened if I uninstalled with NMM, which is one reason I never use Mod Managers. They cannot be guaranteed to work properly with everything, and another of my favourite mods is also messed up when installed like that.

The author had a very specific set of instructions on when and how to install it, and to uninstall it he had scripts which cleanly removed it and reset everything back to the Vanilla follower system. You had to dismiss all followers (taking back any gear you'd given them first) and talk to Tina the Fire Fly by the tree on the island at Riverwood and tell her you definitely wanted to remove UFO and she ran the script to remove it. It's a great shame the author stopped modding for Skyrim before patch 1.9, as the new guys are still struggling to get it fully updated for all the DLC etc. If all mods had been made like UFO, we'd all have fewer problems.

As long as we read the readme.txt first! :D
