arrrrrrrrr
I quite dislike the luminous green paint on the iron sights - does anyone happen to know of a mod which removes these? I have no idea where to start searching for that, what terms etc. I suspect that to remove them may conflict with other mods, however I'd like to if it is possible. So does anyone know of a mod which performs this function? Thanks in advance, and p.s. I do not care if most modern weapons have those green things on - for me I find them ugly and intrusive to my experience. And besides, it's possible the fallout universe never developed that technique.
JustATac0
By "green things" i assume you are talking about the fiber optics? Did you try searching for that?
Ethreon
Be more specific. Add an image.
arrrrrrrrr
I didn't know what they're called, yes the green glowing paint on the iron sights. I do understand they are helpful to see in the dark, I just personally dislike them. I did try searching for fiber optics, remove, and various other terms just now, but without any luck. Well thanks for giving me the correct terminology!
Ethreon
Do you mean the glow sights? That is just a weapon modification, can be removed using a workbench.
arrrrrrrrr
I thought the glow sights came as standard, on many guns. Also as I was aware weapon mods don't need a workbench to apply and take off? (although, I think they logically should).Maybe it's like some mods which add weapon mods via the workbench? but already comes like that. I don't know. I will check in-game, although right now I'm doing more mod research than actual playing. I have found a picture but i't's not 100% helpful due to it being from the retexture project mod -http://i1-games.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Fallout-New-Vegas-Mod-45-Pistol-Retexture_2.jpg On the sights in the pic, the little dots are white which is much more acceptable to me than green, so I guess this does answer my issue Edited January 12, 2016 by arrrrrrrrr
Ethreon
The green dot is and remains vanilla. It's a weapon mod, requires a workbench to change (as it should), and can be easily done.
Ladez
The glowing sight is not part of any weapon modification, it's the default appearance on weapons that have them, like the 9mm Pistol and the Hunting Rifle. Additionally, a workbench is not required to apply any weapon modification, they can be applied from the Pip-Boy. Weapons mods also cannot be removed without the usage of (game) mods. I'm beginning to wonder if you're actually talking about New Vegas here or some other game, because weapon mods do not at all work like you describe. Now, to answer the question, the green dot sights are made glowing either by the usage of a glow map texture or by adding an emissive property to the gun mesh. The solution to your problem is to remove whichever is the cause of these. I'm afraid I don't know of any mod that specifically does this. arrrrrrrrr
Thanks, I understand much better now. I don't like how it looks whether glowing or plain green, seems a bit too modern to me especially on the hunting rifle.I understand how glow maps work and I could attempt to remove them by hand, although it gets complicated by the base files being in the bsa's, so I expect the easiest option is to simply use the WRP mod, which as shown in the screenshot I posted changes the paint on iron sights from green to white, which I find much more acceptable. Thanks to everyone for answering my query, trivial as it might be.And thank you for trying to be helpful, Etheron, although your informatipn seemed a little wrong regarding vanilla new vegas
Ethreon
Damn it, was scouring the Fallout4.esm to spawn unmodded weapons only to notice, too late, this is for NV. What happens when you pick questions of the side panel suggestions.. Yea, to remove those you probably need to edit them in some 3rd party editing software.
