The author of this mod has blocked your access to this file

"and the Nexus staff will not get involved with unblocking your access, so do not contact the moderation team for help" and right next to this message is an advertisement to become a 'Premium Member'. So why would I possibly put down my hard earned money if this can happen? Seriously?!

I was called an idiot in a specific mod thread by the author because I didn't know how to use TES5Edit to fix the author's own mod and I naturally took offense, and for that I was rewarded complete recession from the entire mod.

This is complete lunacy. Is it supposed to work like this?

Yes.

First if someone treated you that way the proper response per the ToS of the site is to report the comment and let the moderators handle it. The answer is not to wade into it posting comments back to them and breaking rules yourself.

Mod authors can block anyone from their mods for any reason. In the many years that this has been in place there have been very few issues (and I was a moderator here for a long time). The best thing is to apologize to the mod author. Explain you were upset about the comment but realize that going into it was perhaps not the best way to handle it.

If you can't apologize in a PM then contact a moderator to see if they will pass a message along. Or you can decide to do nothing and move on.

The issue of the premium ad being there was I am sure a unwelcome coincidence for you. People who have premium accounts face the same things and can also be blocked.

I would also suggest you take a gander at the Terms of Service of the site so that you can become more familiar with the rules and the options available to you if this situation or one like it happens again.

Good luck.

Woah woah woah, I didn't do or say anything out of the ordinary, I wasn't upset, hence I can't technically apologize for it either. I simply asked if there was anyone who had the fixed files (since I don't know how to fix them myself), the author called me an idiot because I couldn't do it myself, I asked why I was called an idiot for asking if there was a fix for the mod, and here we are. There's nothing to apologize for. The only thing I can apologize for is basically asking for help, at all.

Or you can decide to do nothing and move on.

Yeah, but this is, in my opinion completely unacceptable. Why am I asked to become a Premium Member for fifty quid for being insulted by mod authors who are free to ban me from downloading mods from the very site I paid for to download? I'm sorry, but that's just crazy. I can't possibly see why this system would be good for anyone.

Here is your post:

Seriously, how difficult can it be to replace one file with another? Dat humanity...

What?! I have never used TES5Edit, I barely know what it is. Don't know what USLEEP is either, nor do I know what USKP is or what RHS is so I'm stupid? Yeah, how about helping instead of being a condescending prick, how about that?

I think your response with "condescending prick" is the problem. That isn't an acceptable response and I figure that is what got you banned from the mod. The truth of it isn't the issue. You should have reported the initial comment that got you upset and left the rest alone.

And again the premium ad is a random thing. It was unfortunate that this was what you saw right after this incident. But the mod authors long asked for more control over their files and after years of debate Dark0ne let them have it. And the membership is not paying for mods. All mods are 100% free if you have premium or not.

One. More. Time; I was not upset, and the thread has been moderated and both his initial post as well as my response is still there, so it apparently passes the mod-check just fine. Reporting, either back then or now since the comment is still there, would therefore have had zero impact.

Yeah, but I didn't do anything to the author's "files". It would be one thing if I was precluded from posting in the thread , that would actually make sense since that is where the "offence" took place, but no longer being able to access the files?! Wh... what possible benefit would come from that? Who benefits from that? Nexus? The mod author? Me?! It feels extremely draconian and completely nonsensical to restrict access to mods on such flimsy circumstances; 'I don't like you so now you shalt no longer play with my mod... muahaha'. Ridiculous.

Whatever, one thing that has been made stupendously clear from this incident is that I will not become a Premium Member.

Edit:

And the membership is not paying for mods. All mods are 100% free if you have premium or not.

You know I know that and that's not the point. Paying for Premium Membership is to support this site and everything in it. You think after this I'm currently in support? I'm not exactly jumping with joy, I can tell you that much.

Edit2:

That isn't an acceptable response and I figure that is what got you banned from the mod

And just to make it perfectly clear, you figure wrong, it wasn't. Posts has been deleted.

Then don't become a premium member. Don't like how a site is run, then yeah don't offer your support. That is your right.

Just because a thread was moderated (and who moderated, if comments are gone that can be author or moderator) doesn't mean every post was moderated. When a report is received on a comment they see the comment, who reported it, the file name, mod author and a note made when the report is turned in. That thread has a lot of post.

this is the news article when the mod authors got this option:

the initial announcement http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?showtopic=967659

then a followup

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1228460-new-mod-author-comment-moderation-features-and-updated-terms-of-servic/

Perhaps you can get some more reasoning about why this was done from the site owner by reading these.

You can still report the initial comment or not. However that probably won't change you being blocked.

This site has tons and tons of mods. Most people are NOT premium. You can continue to download all the other mods and not have any worries for this one thing. Maybe this mod is elsewhere I do not know. I just hope the next time if someone post to you in a manner you think is against the ToS then report it and move on. In fact you can even block out mod authors and never see the content again. There are very few blocked folks and even after that only a very, very small number have issue with the blocking system.

I understand you are frustrated as you do not think the "punishment" fits the action. But these are the rights of the modders.

Anyway, good luck. I hope that you are able to find some resolution.
