Just to clarify to both of you. .NET 4.5 is not required. A version of .NET older than 4.6 is required. Is that clearer? It's just that getting anything older than 4.5 on windows 10 is rather difficult now.

Ahhh... That makes sense.

(Well, except that nothing about the use of the .NET framework makes sense to me! )

I hear you there Thandal. I'm good at finding problems and sometimes I solve them, but why they occurred? Not my area of expertise.

To update you on what I ended up doing, I reinstalled Windows 10 since it kept showing I had Net framework, C++ and all the other extras installed, but none seemed to be working. And none would reinstall from downloads since Windows thought they were installed. So I gave up and just backed everything up to the extra drive, reinstalled, and wiped it clean. I hated doing that but everything just seemed to get worse as time went on and system restores didn't fix anything.

Good news is that I'm back in business. Everything works and merged fine except my antivirus won't activate. I have 14 days to fix it and I can live with that.

Thanks for all your help. Tirnoney and Thandal, and I'll see you in the Nexus!
