Soooooo......ini Settings ?

Been reading a LOT of commentpages and Forums posts the last few days . Quite some poeple seem to run into trouble with mods one way or the other . One thing that kindof caught my attention is the plethora of different recommendations about how the .ini Files need to be changed for mods to work properly .

 

Heres what the nexus wiki says:

 

How to enable modding

  1. Navigate to your Fallout 4 Folder at the following location "Documents/My Games/Fallout 4"
  2. Within this folder will be a number of .ini files, highlight "Fallout4Prefs.ini" and "Fallout4.ini".
  3. Right Click, select Properties and ensure that these are NOT marked as read only.
  4. Open Fallout4Prefs.ini with your favourite text editor (we use Notepad++).
  5. Navigate to the very bottom and you will see the line [Launcher]. Directly underneath this, add the following line: bEnableFileSelection=1
  6. Save and Close
  7. Open Fallout4Custom.ini with your favourite text editor. * Note that this file was changed from Fallout4.ini following update 1.2
  8. Add the following lines to your Fallout4Custom.ini [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal=
  9. Save and close...
  10. Find the line that reads: sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\
  11. Replace this with the following text: sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\
    * The above settings were deprecated as they were known to cause abnormally long load-times.

Fallout4ModInstallation - NexusWiki

 

Me personally, I enabled the File Selection in Prefs.ini, and did the 2 Line edit to both the Custom.ini as well as Fallout4.ini - since the Guide mixes those up somewhere :wink: . I had up to 60 plugins running ( until I decided to screw NMM virtual install and go back to only manually installing, now I have 0 plugins/mods loaded XD) , and I did not encounter any problems in roughly 100hrs. of gameplay .

 

Sooooo......how does everyone else edit their .inis ? I am talking to YOU, people with admirably enormous LoadOrders of all the MODs anyone would ever want to use, who have created custom patches to get it all working together . Or MAs themselves .

 

Am just thinking, with so many Problems latley, and people alrady claiming we would need the abnormally long string of Directories added again for MODs to work, may be helpfull for some people to see what other do and is proven to work .
