Editing Settlers

I have looked everywhere but there is no solid confirmation that I can use ShowLookMenu to edit settlers, to alter face, to add/remove some makeup, facial hair, blemishes, to change skin color or even to change hair style.

Or is there a better way to do this?

Last time I tried something, it turned the settler invisible after I reset cell (fast travel out, and fast travel back in).

I have Better Settlers mod, but I still want to be able to do customizing on my own. Maybe making someone big and stocky, while other skinny and flail.
