  1. I always manage my plugins.txt file just fine. But today, Vortex seemed to have commandeered my plugins.txt without a warning. Now, Vortex "helped" me sort the orders ALPHABETICALLY... Needless to say, Starfield CTD with this new Load order! I need my plugins.txt back, and preferably NOT managed by Vortex! It will take me several days to rebuild this plugins, because ... there are 150 entries here. I will have to painstakingly load the game 100x to test every damn order. Please help. This is a NIGHTMARE! Why is Vortex doing this?
  2. Edited the content to show what game I am playing, which is Starfield btw. This happened after the latest Vortex update. Everything was working perfectly before with Vortex. Once the update happened, I start to have non-stop problem. And yes, I have reinstalled all the mods above. Some of them several times as well, because Vortex kept overwriting new content with old content.
  3. The game is Starfield. This happens with old mods (installed before Vortex update) and new mods (installed after Vortex update). I have only ONE option is to "Revert all Changes" to preserve mod integrity. If I choose "Save all Changes", Vortex will delete some content in the mod install folders. Namely, a mod with only 1 .esm file. After I "save all changes", esm file is gone and mod is left with ... a blank empty folder. If I choose "User newer file", Vortex copies the content of one mod to save to another mod. This is beyond frustrating. The error above with all these mods are already reinstalled after update. All data path are correct. But every single time I "Deploy mods" I get this "External Changes" error with a list of random mods. There is no end to this. Please help! Note, this is not my first time using Vortex. I have been using Vortex on and off for 5-6 years.
  4. I got Status, Mod Name, Version, Category, Endorsed, Action. All these are sortable beside Action. Where is the installed time?
  5. I am afraid whatever mods out there are on Nexusmods. I believe there is a mod that reduces head tracking. But it is mostly for NPC to avoid locking their gazes on you all the time (like you are some weirdo entering the room). There is nothing else out there.
  6. Care to show how you changed ini to redirect the game to poke at the steam folder? If you want to know how I did it, I use symlink to fake 2 Data folders. The game still thinks it is loading files from my Document folder, but in reality, there is a Symlink Data folder that points back at my Steam folder.
  7. It should. I haven't played with outpost long but I know there should be a POI. But this is the problem, the POI is missing. There are still other POI like random spacer's bases or old POIs that I used to scout for resources. But the actual POI to my Outpost, gone! The outposts are still available for my crews to be assigned to.
  8. With new ships, it is so uncertain. He is talking about boarding, which means a lot of stealing ships. But worry not, here is a mod for it: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1939 This mod gives you slow motion when you do power management. So you will not worry about being killed while switching powers.
  9. Hi, I don't have a mod to collaborate with you. But I am glad you are offering your talent to the community. I do have a side job as audio recordist (and boom operator) so I am aware of the technical side of audio. I have checked out your website. You seem to have great demo, and a wonderful headshot. To help out future collaborators, I just throw out a few FAQ for voice actors. - Do you have your own recording equipment? - Can you process/master the audio? - Can you deliver the actual .wav file on your own without additional audio engineer? These questions will be asked. And frankly audio is probably the hardest to process if people don't know what they are doing. In film projects, if anyone is getting paid, it's the audio recordist and the audio processor. I have been indie short film sets where I was the only one who got paid. This is how hard audio engineering is. So collaborators knowing these answers ahead of time would greatly help their planning. I am not saying you have to also be your own audio engineer, but it is good to know either way.
  10. Um, are you sure? The existence of that Data folder does not matter. What matters is where the game will look for content. You are saying the game will ALSO look for content in steamapps/common/Starfield/Data? Because to my knowledge, the game only load loose files over Document folder. Once again, the existence of the extra Data folder does not matter. You can have "Data/Data/Data/Data/", the game will simply not find content in there, thus render the existence of these folders irrelevant, but harmless. However, the moment you see "Data/Data", it rather hint that some mod is installed incorrectly. What you should do is to go into the second Data folder to fish out any content and cut/copy them to the main Data folder. Simply deleting Data folder will not help. The way computer works, it has a specific file path to look for things. It does not care how your file structures are. You can have 1000 Data folders and the game wouldn't know or care. But if your content is not exactly at the right path, the game will simply not load it.
  11. If you are on PC, you can easily do that with console command player.setlevel 99 Because if I am going to give you my save file, I will also use this command to get to 99, then upload it here. So to save you the trouble, you can do it. You may also need the Achievement Enable mod. But it is easy to install.
  12. I have only created 5 outposts so far. There are 2 ways to find outposts: they have outpost icons on star map, and they show up in crew list to assign crews to. It should be easy to find my outposts to go back to. There are landing spots with my outpost names on it. Except ... I can't seem to find my landing spots anymore. The icon is still on the star map of the system, and of the planet. But once I zoom into the planet, there is no landing spot. My crews are still assigned to these outposts. What do I do?
  13. I am using the latest Vortex version for Starfield mods (if you must know). I appreciate several sorting/searching features. I can create custom categories and assign mods to these categories, they work wonderfully. I can sort mods by mod names, very useful. Is there a sort for the order I installed mods? So if I just installed a new mod, it should be on top of the list, oldest at the bottom. This would be helpful especially I just installed a mod and totally forgot what it was.
  14. Wait until they release modding tools
  15. I have manual installed mods and BG3ModManager. I also have many NativeMods scripts How do I temporary disable mods for testing purpose? Since last patch I ran into unplayable 20-30fps. I used to play at 40-50fps even in Baldur's Gate. But now, 30fps is lucky. I tried everything from reinstalling drivers to toggling all kind of graphic settings. Even at the lowest graphic, I got 5fps extra, at best. So the only thing I haven't done is to run the game without mod.
  16. I just got this game Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen off Steam. Went to Nexus, downloaded Vortex to manage a few mods, nothing fancy. Then I have this error (check screenshot) A little investigation shows that Vortex is looking for 2 files in "DDDA\nativePC\" but they are supposed to be in "DDDA\nativePC\rom" instead. How can I tell Vortex it is looking at the wrong location?
  17. As ironic as this may sound, serious gamers should not play on consoles. I haven't had time to look into cleaning. How bad do you think I do if I leave them without cleaning?
  18. I am sure pet can be easy to do, if someone wants to do it. The only problem I see here is if you also want the pet to stand on someone's shoulders, can take some doing.
  19. Bethesda leaves their dirty records affecting their own stuff? All these times I am trying to leave Vanilla stuff alone, or with patches. Also, wouldn't Steam raise a fist if we use file integrity check?
  20. There is no such "Vanilla" thing about this. Follower seems to hardcode into the game (that you can't simply change up a value). I am using AFT and pretty ok with it, although I have yet to try to use its mode in-depth features, only gather around 5 followers running around so far. Not my intention to have 5, but I just want to check out these followers. I think Recorder still uses follower system. AFT recognizes her and put her into its management system without even asking me. I can be wrong though. I think those mods not using the vanilla follower system are Inigo and Sofia. There is nothing simple about them. The creators went through great length to make sure they function well as a follower without being in the follower faction. IMO, it is simpler to stick with Vanilla (and the mod that extends Vanilla follower system). No, I am not discouraging anyone trying to make a follower like Inigo. I would love to see more followers like him. But whoever dives into this needs to know it is going to be a lot of work.
  21. I think Nexus doesn't have the best search functionality. Only way I know is to type in the name of the language in the search.
  22. Do you guys have your own site or forum where you already have some established communications and exchanges?
  23. I didn't set up this rule or tell you not to do this to be cool. The papyrus log just does not have enough information. You would think the last entry is the thing that CTD your game. But 9 out of 10 it's not. Not to my knowledge, at least. I do look in the log file sometimes. It does yield some clues to the health of my mod setup, but with too many false positive reports. Some of the errors are considered harmless. Look at your log entry, the last section told of Campfire and Frostfall doing their jobs. Very health and normal. And your game CTD at some point after than without a log entry. The first sensible thing to do is to post your load order with all your mods showing (in spoiler tag). Maybe someone here will look at them and pin point some problems, like you are missing a mod, or the order seems troublesome, or you have a mod that is known to cause trouble or conflict with another mod. Basically you are asking for the community to use their combined knowledge and experience to help you out. Going through mod 1 by 1 is probably the last thing you do. Although I just diagnosed some problems yesterday. I narrowed down a conflict between 2-3 mods, reported to the mod authors, and they got back with responses explaining what they thought could have been the problem, and offered some solution or at least work around. And I used my intuition to do so, based entirely on my experience playing with mods.
