I'm not too clear on the lore, but from what I read on the wiki, Alduin is supposed to be a nordic variation of Akatosh. Does this mean they're one in the same? If this is true, we'll be fighting against one of the nine divines, and after that display of power back during the Oblivion crisis, I can see him being an extremely tough enemy. Alduin is the Nordic variation of Akatosh, and only superficially resembles his counterpart in the Eight Divines. For example, Alduin's sobriquet, 'the world eater', comes from myths that depict him as the horrible, ravaging firestorm that destroyed the last world to begin this one. Nords therefore see the god of time as both creator and harbinger of the apocalypse.
