We all seen that, and we all know this was a huge emotional blow for the player character. This and the loss of a son basically fuels the PC through the whole plot. I am quite sure that PC would do everything to get back his/her spouse if given a chance. Let's think now, the bullet wound inflicted by Kellogg could be fatal, but we don't know that for sure - it might not even matter. The spouse, whether still alive or dead, is being immediately frozen in cryo again right after the shot. This preserves most of body! Let's say siding with the Institute could give PC access to some miracle tech like the Lazarus project from Mass Effect 2. It's makes possible to return to Vault 111, retrive the frozen body and perform highly advanced neuro-surgery and regeneration therapy on the spouse. Yes I know he/she got shot in the head... but even modern science knows about cases where patients lived after "lethal" brain damage. It's plausible. Such side-quest or a mod would make a wonderful addition to the plot, making such reunion possible. To bring your love one back from the dead. What do you think? Still, that's not quite the same as shooting them in the head/sternum/abdomen (which would almost guarantee fatality at that range)....but it's close to the collar bone and right lung. There is a much better chance for that location to be non-fatal, and there are a lot of dialogue lines to be borrowed from either spouse to mash into a proper 'resurrected' Nate/Nora. I think it would be great if we needn't side with the Institute completely to do so, as there is always Dr. Amari and/or the Brotherhood that could be a solution....you just might have to borrow a few things from the Institute. :tongue: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lee5Lee Posted January 19, 2016 Share Posted January 19, 2016 I would honestly prefer Nora/Nate's wound be non-fatal from the start (and it seems logical, because shot at the shoulder would prevent her/him from fighting any further, but left some more "genetic material backup" from the institute), and also think, that it will be really easy to edit the Vault 111 kidnapping scene for that only by adding blood splatters on spouse's shoulder and editing Nora/Nate's "kick out" animation by adiing closing eyes animation too, as if she/he just fainted. Honestly, killing Nora/Nate was an extremely stupid move from Kellog's side, and it would never happened if it was not for stupid game balance reasons, which prevented us from getting human companion with maxed affinity (which means +1 cool perk) from the very start of the game. lest120 Posted January 19, 2016 Share Posted January 19, 2016 one im pretty sure your wife or husband character voice actor is only limited to what they would say as the player second off if u dont want break lore the virus that made super mutants is only possible way resurrect if u dont care for lore friendly and realism then mod would make sense. as in lore terms cryo was experiement (not going spoil the entire vault story) meant to keep living people alive for long periods which and realistim terms could be fatal if done incorrectly realistic terms cryo only exist in few hours not years and since the character is human not hybrid like super mutants and ghouls freezing of the organs can cause fatal damage to them. Lee5Lee Posted January 19, 2016 Share Posted January 19, 2016 We're here, actually, talking about possibility to alter game's lore, not like "shot in the head, yet still like new" companion. I remember an awesome mod for Skyrim's Dragonborn dlc, where you can side with the main antagonist, Miraak, instead of killing him, which gives you him as an awesome follower. Not due to game-lore, but not lore-unfriendly, imo... Didn't got part about FEV, how it can be used to ressurect someone? About voicing, player character have TON of voiced lines, which can easily be used for processing Nora/Nate's responces for dialogue with npcs, and for PC-to-Companion lines you can use spliced files (which is rather easy with Nora, because voice actress keeps same distance from microphone and all lines have same volume; with Nate it's more complicated, but yet, TON of lines recorded).
