FCOM

Finally. It took a few times but I successfully installed fcom and it is gold...so far. A very challenging mod package that has reignited my passion with TES. I do have questions though and I am hoping that someone will be able to help me or at least point me in the right direction. I noticed when I first started up Oblivion after installing fcom, a few messages popped up in the upper left. Some would say unofficial patch loaded or prices set. The problem is the next time I started up Oblivion, these messages did not reappear. Is this normal? I would also like to know if there are any graphic or environmental mods that i could add to fcom to enrich the whole experience. I would hate to add a mod just to find that it doesn't work well with my set-up. It takes me about 3 hours to reinstall and ive already done it twice.

The messages are a one-time thing. You should be golden there.

 

If you want to install texture packs and such, that just won't be a problem. No conflicts with FCOM. What other types of mods are you interested in?

 

I am very interested in AWLS, QTP3R redimized, realistic water, beaming sunglare v12 and enhanced vegatation high. I tried these out with just OOO when I made my first attempt installing mods for Oblivion. I tried the stutter mod as well but didn't notice much of a difference. I am looking for a hi-res texture pack that is known to work well with Fcom. Here is my bash log from boss. It is very vanilla.

Don't use more than one reducer. In your case, the spawnrates stronger is the only one having any effect of the three. (as it loads last....)

 

Aside from those issues, LO looks good.

 

For texture packs, I use QTP3R, RAEVWD, and a selection of either Brumbecks, or Ampol's textures for SI. (can't remember which......) The game looks great. :D

 

I also highly recommend one of the DarnUI variants. Makes menu's much more informative, and laid out better as well.

 

I don't use OBGE as yet, and there are still some issues to be ironed out with the water mod. Not sure if they will be able to is the thing. There are some ini tweaks that can be done for water though, might wanna look into that instead. (or, try the water mod, and see what ya think. :D)

Thanks for the help. I am creating an OMOD now for the QTP3R. I will try the RAEVWD if everything goes well and continue from there. I have only installed mods for one other game(X3) but I am finding that Oblivion has really opened my eyes concerning the amount of hard work that actually goes into creating them. Thanks again :)

I think RAEVWD also has OMOD conversion data with it. (or, you can download it in omod ready format, don't recall) Installing via OBMM makes it MUCH easier. :D

 

Yep, there are some truly talented folks cranking out mods for Oblivion. The amount of work that goes into some of these is just astounding, considering they are done in free, un-paid, time. Much kudos to the mod creators! (and that doesn't even consider the amount of work going into developing the tools we use to make mods work well together. Oh My.)
