i dont really know what causing this, decide to install a fresh OS ( Win 7 32bit) yesterday. and after i installed blender, it run very slow, tried re-install it, checked for virus on my system, updating driver or any soft that needed for blender to work, still no luck. importing upperbody.nif usually 5-10 second tops but now it take almost 5 time longer.

anyone have any solution for this ?

thanks...

eh....what version of Blender are you talking about?

From a graphical viewpoint, Blender relies heavily on OpenGL so if your video card does not support or poorly supports OpenGL, Blender performance will be problematic.

With a computer I have that runs 2.49b horribly, the new 2.57 runs like a champ in comparison without any changes in preferences or display modes.

oh sorry forgot to mention my blender version, and yes i do have the 2.49b version ( download from that you provide here but before fresh OS it work flawlessly, never found any problem before...2.57 runs like champ ? sounds good, i'll give it a try for sure, one more thing tho, can it work with nifscript, pyffi, and phyton that you include on blender 2.49b package from the link i mention before ?

Thanks..

Blender 2.49b is the highest you can go right now and still import / export NIF files.

Grab the 2.57 zip version, extract to a temp location and just double-click Blender.exe and it should run self-contained separate from your 2.49b installation. You won't be able to share files between the versions but you can at least test it out.

But back to your problem...when you look at the menu in 2.49b, do the menus seem to draw very slowly? That is a sign that it is video card / driver related.

drawing are normal, the problem is when importing and exporting that takes time much longer from my previous OS especially when it comes in copy bone weight..

i guess there's something missing but i dont what it is, heck i guess need to re-install my OS again, since i know how to reworking meshes for FO3/FNV in blender, i simply can't live without it heh..

thanks for help and info LHammonds..

You can't just export Nif Files to OBJ? You can use NifSkope to load data files from the games content, export to OBJ, and re-import to Blender. I would assume Blender saves texture path's so you can re-assign them to their corresponding files. My experience comes from a completely different program all together though. My suggestion is merely a probable work-flow for you.

A fresh OS? A new install on a computer that previously ran an outdated OS such as XP or Vista, or a re-install of W732b? It's possible you're missing a software update for Windows 7 for the program to function properly. Or possibly as LHammonds presents, a new updated driver for your video card, as a fresh install might have wiped any previous drivers back to factory settings.

I had a similar issue with another application and it turned out to be a lack of both necessary framework updates, and video driver updates.

If your menus and model drawing rates are fine, it probably is not an OpenGL driver issue.

When importing and exporting NIF files, it relies heavily on Python...same goes for all the internal scripts such as copy bone weight.

So my 1st place to look is your installation of Python. When starting 2.49b, look at the black dos box that is also opened and see if it says the following:

Compiled with Python version 2.6.2
Checking for installed Pythong... got it!

If it does not say that, you've got a problem right there.

It will work with any Python 2.6.x such as the 2.6.5 version included in my most recent package.

It will not recognize Python 2.7.x or higher since it was not compiled within that set so make sure you have a 2.6.x installation.

The other thing Blender relies on for a Windows installation is "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008" but it should have detected and installed it during the installation of Blender. However, it never hurts to run the C++ installer again for grins and giggles. It is attached to my Blender page as a separate download.
