Well then, you came to the right place then.

My first advice to you is that Video Games are like tofee. They come in Hard and Soft varieties, can be crunched upon for hours, and will bring you nothing but a good taste in your mouth at the end of the day.

Just as with life, the best thing I can advise you is to get out there and play as many video games as you damn well can! Check the bargain bins! play as many video games as you can! Get a feel for the genres, but most importantly, sample the main sagas. Most games fit into either Hardcore or Casual(soft) types. Casual games are short, often colourful, and aimed for people without the time, equipment or experience to play other games. most mobile phone games fit in this catergory. Hardcore games like Oblivion are slated more for the experienced gamer, these are typicaly harder, require more experience, and are longer.

As for Oblivion, I can advise more specificaly.

Here's how you make mods work:

Step one, uninstall Oblivion. You will not lopse any saved data, this is stored seperately.

Step two, Click Computer/My Computer, select your hard drive, and right click some empty space. Create a new Folder and name it Oblivion. Create a second folder and name it MODs-Oblivion.

Step three, Re-install Oblivion, but watch the messages and when it asks you where to install to, hit Browse and select your new Oblivion folder. Then install as normal. This step bypasses the annoying system in Windows that prevents you using some mods due to security cocnerns. ALL the mods on the Nexus are competely safe as it's rules are very well enforced, but Windows doesnt know that, so you have to create a new folder to be outside User Accoutn Control's jurisdiction.

Step four: Go onto TESNEXUS and find 7-Zip. Download and install the 7-Zip. 7-Zip is a little freeware program, meaning it's software that anyone can download for free, which harks back to the early home comnputing era. 7-ZIP allows you tro unpack "compressed" data folders, which allows you to access the mods you download. It's a bit of a Swiss Army Knife though, ol Zip can also compress folders for uploading, and do all kinds of helpful things. A must have.

Step five: Now that you have 7-ZIP you can install mods, here is how you do this. Select a mod. Download the mod into your MODS-Oblvion folder. Now, the fun begins: go to MODS-Oblivion, I recomend creating a shortcut on your desktop for easy acess, and right click the .RAR file that should be lying in it. Right click that file and then choose 7-ZIP's tab and click Extract Here.

This will tell 7-ZIP to open the folder and take what's in it out. Windows cant usualy open these folders, so you need ZIP for this step, a few kind modders use 7-ZIP Self Opening folders, which simply iris open with a doubleclick.

Step six, you should now be looking at a jumble of new folders, or a single folder. If one, open it and find the Readme, read it. If it has Textures or Meshes folders, right click one and click CUT(dont worry, you keep the .RAR and that's an infinite source of new folders if you need them, just Extract Here again) Now open your Oblivion folder and find the DATA folder. Right click the DATA folder and click PASTE. Now go back and CUT then PASTE the remaining folders that came with the mod tioll they're all in DATA.

Step Seven: Start Oblivion via the autoplay by inserting the disc. When the menu comes up, select Data Files, if the mod came with an .ESP file, click the new name in the list and then start the game. Voila, the mod should be installed,

Ask here if you need any more advice, Im happy to help, as are we all. We were all at this point in our careers once too.
