N3C14R
I downloaded the new 270.61 Nvidia drivers for my GTX580 hoping it would solve the artifacting problems I come across when running in very high detail, along with the terrible fps. The new drivers indeed solved the artifacting but I'm still getting terrible fps in very high detail (around 25-40 fps with the occasional stutter.) But when I turn it down to high detail, my fps shoots up to 80+ fps. WTF? Anyone else who has the same or a similar gpu experiencing this problem? DGVictus
Not sure exactly, but my 480 does something similar. I can get a sustained 60FPS [vsync to prevent tearing] but on some cutscenes with candles/flame in them, my FPS drops to mid 20s. There are still minor tweaks to be solved it seems. Vindekarr
I've always had this issue with bioware's fantasy games. Neverwinter Nights 2 particularly, especialy inside, had absolutely abominable lag even on a quadcore I-7 with 6gb of Corsair RAM and a top spec GTX 580. I cant recomend a soluition, but I can say, you're not alone bro.

Heck, even vanilla GTA IV without the patches runs absolutely fine. It's only Dragon Age 2 I'm having framerate issues with.
