Elite Spartan
I am considering picking up Oblivion again, and I want to set up some mods so it feels like I really am in a whole new world for the little bit of time I set aside to play it (I'm a college student, so that's not much. But I want to make what little time I have very high quality). I am already considering using "Blood is Everything - Vampire Overhaul Revamped" and/or "Werewolf: The Awakening" So I may be either a vampire or a werewolf (I'm pretty sure I'll be going with vampire). However, either one of those leaves the rest of the game untouched. Does anyone have suggestions that will completely overhaul as many aspects of the game as possible? Make it much more immersive? I am already considering adding FCOM (I've done it before). I want to keep the mod list I use under a dozen mods preferably, so big mods that change a lot of things. My main things I want to have changed are: All characters (NPC, creatures, ect.) This will likely be taken care of in FCOM or, at minimum, OOO Balance (Survival difficulty, combat, buying/selling, ect.) combat change will likely happen from a combat mod such as Deadly Reflex (If I decide I want to use that) Enviroment (New/revamped landscapes, more animals, better weather, textures, ect.) I'm looking at a few mods that touch on these. Cities (Just so that it doesn't feel like I'm in the same, old vanilla cities. Would Bananasplit Better Cities work?) And finally, sound. I don't know any mods to use for that. So basically, I want as many aspects overhauled as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any suggestions are appreciated! Fonger
so - what overhaul would you add to your FCOM install? and why??
Elite Spartan
so - what overhaul would you add to your FCOM install? and why?? FCOM effects combat ai, combat speed, equipment, enemies, difficulty, ect. But that leaves many things untouched. When I'm in a fight, it's really fun. But for all the hours I'm NOT in any fights, I like everything to be more immersive. Since I won't be playing all day everyday, I want every moment where I'm looking at that screen to be enjoyable. Lush forests, beautiful landscapes, roaring thunderstorms... and be able to STILL fight really cool enemies during it all with really cool weapons and armor. Elite Spartan
Also, I was hoping to use some graphic enhancing mods and some other mods to help raise fps (I've used streamline and loved it!). Any suggestions for those? I've been out of the loop for awhile. But I am also hoping for mods to help with the realism and immersion.
chaospearl
So basically, you want everything in the game from NPCs to weather to be completely overhauled, improved, gutted and rebuilt to be as immersive and realistic as possible. Okay. Tall order but with the mods available out there, you can get most of what it sounds like you want. The problem is with the 'under a dozen mods' part. To be blunt, you are going to need to seriously reevaluate what you want here. The sort of total overhaul you have in mind would require dozens and dozens of mods. Elite Spartan
I want to keep my list down as small as possible, and I'm willing to sacrifice many things to do so. For instance, I don't need to change the combat so much (no deadly reflex or unnecessary violance), I don't need to change the weather, I don't need new quests or characters, ect. And combinations of mods, such as FCOM, I would count as one. So that right there is four mods which change balance, combat, equipment, creatures, ect. all in one. And any utilities (such as streamline) or mods that work as such wouldn't count (including even patches). I've looked at probably hundreds of mods over the last couple of years, and to change EVERYTHING I would need dozens of mods and maybe a little better computer unless I wanted to sacrifice graphics. But for now, I want to get a list together and decide what I don't really need/want. FCOM, or at least OOO, is one of the required in my book. Along with a few others. Telyn
This may sound like a strange question, but what kind of mood do you want? Graphics mods can create different visual styles, and if you get a style you like, you may find you need fewer mods to create an immersive visual experience. Deleted1848331User
Qarls Texture Pack III if you have a strong computer. Even though you don't want weather overhauls, I'd recommend getting All Natural, because its just that good.
JCP768
The Integration: The Stranded Light trifecta will probably be for you (ie: Less Annoying Magic Experience for MagicRace Balancing Project for racesand Integration for quests/characters) Basically all 3 mods are made by a veteren of the Elder Scrolls series and they'reall well made, lore correct, and properly integrated into the world. Integration in particular adds 80+ quests with 24+ hours of silent dialogue, multiple solutions, skill/rank/race checks, and overall just much better quest gameplay, story, and characters than what the vanilla game offers. Also prolly want to check the list of lists. The immersion list in particular since you mentiioned immersive. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/155637-list-list-of-mod-lists/ Edited April 22, 2011 by JCP768

Graphics mods can create different visual styles, and if you get a style you like, you may find you need fewer mods to create an immersive visual experience. It is a strange question, but thinking about it, a necessary one. I think what I really want, all around, is to have the game world just feel like a walk in a forest I don't have access to in real life. So I want the game to be more of an aesthetic enjoyment (as much as my system can take) while still having more enjoyable combat. Sort of... like walking in a beautiful painting, or in a dream. Does that make sense? Qarls Texture Pack III if you have a strong computer. Even though you don't want weather overhauls, I'd recommend getting All Natural, because its just that good. I think my computer should be able to handle Qarls Texture Pack, depending on what other mods I do (but without mods, it could likely take it easily). And isn't All Natural considered the "FCOM" of weather mods or something? I think I might just do that. This really will add a lot! I had wanted to play this a long time ago, but didn't have Shivering Isles. Thats' changed now. And since I care more about immersion now, it will make things even better. I'll be checking that list out too, thank you. Thank you all for the responses. You've helped me identify some of the mods I would DEFINATELY want to use. And my list is still fairly small, counting the groups of mods (FCOM, All Natural, ect.) as one mod each. I can't wait until this semester is over!
