Hello all,

I'm a new guy to the whacky world of blender. and i decided to make a sword for Oblivion and boy, I was in way over my head on this one.

This is what's come up so far. (SHIELD YOUR EYES PEOPLE!!!!)

If anyone is a Monster Hunter fan (i know i am :D), This is.... the hilt of Supremacy blade/Divine shasher/Hellish slasher (whichever you want to call it)

It's not very good is it? for 6 hours of blender experience.. i guess it's ok. (all in one stretch.... i'm slow at this.)

Now the real picture of this is here.. The guard of the sword does have two spikes pointing in opposite ways, the second link shows evidence

If anyone has any tips they can give me on making this, it would be really appreciated. (thanks in advance :D)

This blade looks too cool to be not worked on.

For the grip, I would model just one cylinder, unwrap it and once I'm happy with the UV, then duplicate it along the Y axis. That way, you don't have to UV all those same pieces since it is basically the same texture on all of them.

If the small inside grip is one long cylinder and the outer cylinders are all separate cylinders, it will cut down on the amount of geometry even though you will have pieces going through other pieces. Not exactly a pro tip but will certainly make it easier on you.

When making objects, remember to compartmentalize each one rather than trying to make one huge object. Try thinking of object as if in real life. You would build a filing cabinet by having one object as the cabinet, and several more separate objects as the drawers.

That's about all the advice I've got.

Have fun.
