Switch
Looks like a bad case of missing texture files to me. When you reinstall the contents of your Data folder remain more or less the same I think (other than the BSAs and master file being replaced), so this kind of problem can't be fixed by a reinstall unless you delete your Data folder at the same time. You'll need to use a BSA extractor like the one in Oblivion Mod Manager or one of the external programs (all available on TESSource). Extract the Oblivion - Textures.bsa file to your Data directory and then re-add all the texture files from your mods. That should ensure they're all there. Although quite why texture files would suddenly disappear overnight I'm not sure. Ran a defrag/disk check recently? Any siblings that like to mess about on your PC while you're not looking? :P Moving this to Oblivion Technical Support anyway.
benayers
ah yes i did defrag not long ago it could have been that but could it be caused by a program such as bsa commander? i used that to unpack one texture could it have damaged the archive do you think? Switch
No a defrag wouldn't have caused the problem - I meant have you done one because it might fix it. But you have, so nevermind. ^^ And as for BSA Commander... I don't know, I haven't used that one. Try extracting all of the Textures BSA with Oblivion Mod Manager. I'm pretty sure that works. benayers
after deleting all the program files and reinstalling oblivion si and all my mods i managed to fix it by restoring a backup of oblivion.ini that was altered by ini tweaker. i was *slightly* annoyed by the amount of time it took to get everything back to how it was though but thanks for the help
