Deleted4610270User
How do I go about finding out default directories and file names for vanilla textures? For example, I want to find a default directory for a FOG texture (in Data\Textures), but I can't be going around asking about directory/path of every texture I am interested in... I am talking about WOULD BE directories and file names for textures NOT located in my Data\Texture folder. For example, I downloaded Radiant Clouds and Fog mod, but I don't want to install it due to other mods I already have. What I do want is to use that mod's Fog texture to replace vanilla texture. Could you, please, advice me on what tool to use to find paths and files for textures I may be interested in, but not yet have? I understand I may need to rename a custom-named texture to vanilla texture name, but that's too simple to even mention!
mm137
Bethesda Archive Extractor. Even if you don't extract anything you can dig around in the path names etc.
Deleted4610270User
I tried that! Thanks! I still couldn't find the texture. I mean I don't even know the name! I assume its in Effect folder because that's where Radiant Cloud and Fogs created custom directory for its Fog mod...
mm137
Try one of the other fog mods - one of them is bound to be a vanilla edit. I didn't see it either on first look.
tomomi1922
There are like 7-8 texture files, it will take a while to look. It may not even be named "fog". Bethesda doesn't intend for players to read these names. Like BOS uniform ... named Knight ... Knight Under Armor ....??!?! Maybe originally they intended BOS to be the good guys, at least much more of a knight in shiny armor than now. But whatever it is, it shows they don't reflect the content, or even the naming convention is all whack. Radiant Cloud and Fog should be an easy answer. All you need is to use their texture/mesh and put them in the folder. Open the zip up, look in there and only pick and choose the one you want. The mod comes with custom fog mesh and custom name for that mesh. There is no texture associated with it.
