wywiady
Hi, I've just installed OOO and MMM (plus other mods but don't think they're the cause here). I also have the XP mod. Gameplay difficulty is set to 90% (I did play vanilla Oblivion a few years back, so I'm not a total newbie at the game). After finishing the prologue and spending some time in the city, I returned to the Imperial Prison Sewer area to gain some XP from killing some poor mammals and exploration. Still at level 1, I met a level 3 Gore Rat outside and died after receiving merely 2 hits. Reloaded, cast Dragon Armor, and... the same thing happened! Moreover, none of my hits (Longsword) or spells (Flare) did any damage whatsoever! Then I summoned Skeleton, which in turn killed every single animal in the area without any difficulty. I know that OOO cranked up the difficulty but my situation seems unbalanced with me being unable to do any damage to an NPC only two levels above and my summoned creature able to utterly demolish it. Is this considered "normal" in the modded world or did I mess something up? Thanks. Edited April 25, 2011 by wywiady
HeyYou
Setting the difficulty slider that high means you don't do diddly for damage, but, your opponents can whack ya dead in short order. Turn it down to 50% or so.
wywiady
Won't it make my "pets" even more overpowered though? The basic skeleton already appears to be much, much stronger than me... Edited April 25, 2011 by wywiady
Eiries
I've heard that these mods, while great later on, can be absolutely devastating at low levels. Take HeyYou's advice and at least put the difficulty slider back to normal, if not lower. At least until you're a few levels higher.
HeyYou
Lowering the difficulty will also effect how much damage your pets do, as they are considered NPC's by the game. So, they will do proportionately less damage as well.

okappa
If I'm guessing right, the skeleton you cast is so strong because of OOO. OOO seems to change the way that NPCs interact with the difficulty slider, and it apparently regarded your skeleton as a normal NPC. And naturally, skeletons are much stronger than rats.
