Sorry For My Noobishnes

I have read and watched almost every tutorial out there on doing the simpest thing, modding a gun. I have followed the tutroials exactally and the item still doesn't show up. For example: I was making a laser pistol do slightly more damage and I placed in GS general store and saved it as a diffrent ID and in-game name and it won't show up anywere I place it, I have set the ownership to player under the NPC tab I have tried diffrent locations, everything. PLEASE HELP.

uh, you do see the gun in the geck, yes...?

have you tried a havoc test with the gun in geck (activate the gun, press the havoc button in the menu bar, see what the gun does (if the havoc-button does nothing, try closing the geck, opening geckcustom.ini, find busemultibounds = 1 and change it to = 0, then restart the geck (fixes some other geck-issues as well)).

my theory (presuming the gun does show up in geck of course) is: havoc places most objects a bit _above_ the ground they're supposed to lie on; so if you, in the geck, place your object _exactly_ on the floor (just for example), havoc may interpret its position as _below_ the floor and make it fall into the void below (or if you placed it on, say, a box that's standing on a floor, the object would fall through the box and stay lying on the floor _inside_ the box (you could check this in game by typing tfc (toggle free camera) in the console and look on the objects inside if the gun's there). anyway, if this was in fact your prob, you can easily solve it by just placing the gun a bit higher (you could as well place it somewhere in the air in geck, press the havoc button and let havoc drop it exactly on what it thinks is the ground for you)

ah yes, and make sure you don't have "initially disabled" checked in the gun's data tab

and never mind your noobishness :-), just about a month ago, i didn't even know how to get a cell opened in geck, and now i find myself spending my spare time scripting quests and having nightmares about lighting issues... :-)=)
