SirTwist
I don't know if this can be done, but here is my concept for the mod, or mods.1) Settlers that aren't assigned to either guard duty, caravans, or growing, are cleaning up the settlement, clearing out stuff, and enhancing the buildings that are there, including the prefab houses.2) All prefab houses need to look much better. For the small houses, they should look like the frame work for a small ranch style house that can fit 2 people, if not 4 snuggly.3) Actual working bunk beds, that sleep 2 to it. And double sized beds that also sleep 2. And one special bed for yourself.4) Either integration of the disable minutemen radiant quests, or strongly upgrading the defensive value of everything. Walls have a passive defensive value, and since they can't be breached by even Fatman nukes, they should have a defensive rating of 100 each. And all fences funnel the attackers to the gates. The gates have a defensive value of it's own, not sure of the number here, but can be breached. I would say 50, maybe, if the gate is opened, 125 if closed. Each turret has a minimum rating, while still firing of about 100, going up to 500. Spot light should be about 5 rating, but have to be attached to a siren to be more effective. Traps are okay, but they do need to be actual traps, not something that one hit with a pipe pistol can take out. Mines are about 10 defensive points each.5) Rework the water system. If there is a body of water nearby, then the purifiers can be used. If not, the water pumps can be added to, where you have a windmill pumping the water for you, and the pump attached to a purifier to get potable water out of it. The purifiers can be the same ones you would use for in water, or they could be new ones, but based on the original. And since the windmill is providing power for the pump, it can also do the same for the purifier.6) Furniture other than beds. The settlers that move into the settlement, if there is furniture present, should proceed to also clean that, and get it to a better condition. If you actually build the furniture from the workshop, it should look like a decent piece of furniture, and clean.7) Armory. This is a station like the weapons workbench, or armor workbench, where instead of building or modifying weapons and armor, you place in there your excess weapons and armor, and all the settlers get what you put in there, and modify it as they want to. They leave in there all the pipe pistols they are carrying. And those get turned into scrap. As you advance with gun nut, armorer, blacksmith, etc. You can put one modded weapon, 1 each of modded armor pieces, and the settler will get the update from there.8) Fusion core manufacture and recharge. This here is something I would like to explore the possibility of. You place your nearly expended fusion core into it, and within a set amount of time, it is recharged. Like the bench that makes them, you can have it recharge normal, slight overcharge, or massive overcharge. Regular charge is 100/100, slight is 200/200, and massively overcharged is 300/300. there also needs to a nuclear physicist revamp, but that is a separate mod.9) A revamp on the scavenging bench. This bench needs reworked. This is my idea. Basically you assign one person to this bench. They move about the settlement, scrapping what they can. The scavenger goes to all the people, collects the bits and pieces they pick up while cleaning the settlement. They also clean out the armory once in a while of the scrapped pipe pistols. After the settlement is cleaned as much as can be, they will continue their work, but at a slower pace, until you come in and assign guards to the station. They will venture out in the wasteland, scrapping what they can before night, and getting back to the settlement. If there is equipment that could be made to work, they can get it functional enough to get it back to the settlement, then begin to getting it to work. This would be used for expansion, and development of the settlement, and area the area around it. Will also use Brahmin. And guards are in power armor, which is also modified in the armory.10) Caravans, or traders, or whatever you want to call them. These are the people who go between settlements, and making sure everyone has everything they need. Their job is three fold. One is to make sure all workbenches have the same stuff in it, no matter where you go. Two, that the armory is updated. Three, tell scavengers where there is good, local scavenge. They aren't scouts, but they do help keep the routes clear between settlements. They also have Brahmin, and the guards are in power armor. This is all I for the moment, I can provide more detail for each one, and I know it will be daunting. However, I think that it will be a really good mod, or a set of mods. dark47
I really like most of these ideas, but they sound like they'd take a considerable amount of work (especially scripting). The scrapper alone would be quite a project, I imagine. I don't doubt the ability of our modders, I just wonder if the proper tools will be available and if the game will allow such extensive modification. My modding ability is NOT such that I could undertake a project this huge, but I'd love to see it done. (Almost sounds like another game inside Fallout 4. SirTwist
Let me go point by point on my original post. Maybe rearrange some things, and see if I can't even get this into say modules. 1) Settlers, add a line, or two, or three, to clear what they can out of a settlement, such as bushes, dead grass, things like that, while also working what they are assigned. (I don't know how much work this will be, but if they work on the settlement cleaning, and make things look better, a slight bump to happiness.) 2) I know there are mods out there that make the wooden ones look better, but they still need some work. I applaud those who have made the mods that are out there. I just want things to look better, and even something that the settlers can improve on, and perhaps even make better. I don't want them all redone, just the large wooden prefab house to have better looking walls. Make the length uniform, of the wood, and mo holes in the sides, and roof. 3) Between some of the mods out there, which are great, and I like them, I want to add this to what is out there, if possible. The ability to sleep two settlers in the bunk beds, and the double beds that the settlers can sleep in. I will probably have to wait until the CK comes out for this to happen, and I think one mod maker said they were waiting on just that. 4) This is a huge one. Going to break it up. But I do want options in every module. a) Integrate the various mods out there, such as invulnerable turrets, higher defenses on the turrets, things like that. Not one huge mod, just a set of individual modules that you pick and choose what you want. Say you want a bump in the amount of defenses your turrets give, to full on, no power needed, and nothing can kill them. Or a mod that you can pick and choose that has this already built in. And integration of turrets and spotlights with say the siren. b) I know this won't help much, at all, but a defense setting to the walls. Say a 5 defense for every wall. Can be tuned by picking which module you want. c) The ability to either totally eliminate all raids, or tune the raids. The tuning of the raids you can pick say one raid, at a random spot, per week, or more than that, or even less. With a set amount, or even random amount. Along with this, the raid can be stopped if your defenses are too high to get through them. d) possibly laying out a mine field both inside and outside that is part of the defenses. (This is optional.)5) Water is nice to have. I don't know what Bethesda was thinking when they made the water pumps. However, I do believe there are mods out there, already, that can do what I would like to them. I just think it would be nice to have a windmill that handles the pumping for you. And, perhaps the settlers, can run pipes to buildings, and say happiness lowers if there isn't a bathroom to use? (Okay the last part is really optional, and really more role playing than anything else. But if it can be done, might be a cool thing to add. But don't break yourself over trying to do this, please.)6) This is just a thought I had, about cleaning the furniture, fixing it up, etc. It would be nice, but not really necessary right now. Might be something to look forward to in the CK, maybe? Perhaps have it in the settlement menu, as a replacer when available?7) Armory is something I would like to see where the settlers who come in, can get some better clothes and weapons than what they arrive in. You have to put in the raw materials for them to do so. Such as some sort of under armor, and the armor pieces, The weapons should also be included in this. Say you want everyone to trade in their pipe pistols, which I really loathe, for say a 10 mm pistols that they can modify. (Okay, you had already modified it, but they can pretend that they do at the workbench.) You get the clothes and weapons, and scrap them yourself. And any updates to things, you put in one set of an example, and it is copied with in a sleep period, or something. I don't know how this would really work, but if someone else can do this, please do so. (Or just eliminate all pipe weapons from the game, that would be really nice. I don't like them because they look like they have a greater chance of blowing up in my face, rather than shooting someone.)8 ) I know there is a bench where you can make fusion cores, what I would like, though, is to integrate that into the rest of the benches, perhaps, and make it a little easier to make more cores for your power armor, as well as integrating an option to recharge your almost empty ones. Might be some simple, easy, scripting, might not be.9) This is an idea I had, that would make the scavenging bench seem a bit more viable. I still want my original idea. However, I have something that may work instead. Make the bench accessible to where you can put in there what you don't want, such as raider armor, pipe weapons, and junk, and the bench produces the bits and pieces out of it that it ll contains. This way, you can junk things you don't really want, or need.10) I've given a little more thought to this, and basically the caravan job is still three fold, but three different things. a) They make sure all your settlement workbenches all are the same stuff. (This is there normal job, so no work here.) However, they do so with power armor. (This will need a mod for it.) b) If you change things at one armory, they all are changed. Would integrate the armory nicely into things. c) Exterior areas of places you cleared, if they go near enough, can be seen if still cleared. They aren't scouts, they aren't weapon specialists, just being safe, and cautious, and on the move, they are able to see things you might not be able to see until you are on top of it. The map can be updated easily enough. Wait or sleep can do the trick.11) Each settlement, along with the beacon, and the radio station at the Castle, can have a ham radio to maintain contact with each other. When the castle, and Radio Freedom is up and running, it will update you on a variety of things. And make it so that you are alert to more than just settlement raids. And, in case of raids, call in the big guns, i.e. BoS or the Minutemen. (Of course it depends on all your other mods, etc. But this last one is just something I would like to see done, just to keep all my settlements together, and talking to each other about things. And even keeping me up to date on things around the Commonwealth.) I don't want it all in one package, just want something nice, compact, decent, and even replacing some of things in the current settlement workshop menu, as well as adding some things that would make the Sole Survivor a better informed weapon of the Commonwealth.
