  1. I'm building a Healer for the first time in ESO, and I'm having a heck of a time with Abner Tharn's series of quests. The dragon at the end is impossible for me. Heck, I died so many times with the Queen (Abner Tharn's step-sister) that I lost count. Can we do these quests with another person (or 2)? Or as a healer do you suggest I just skip this series? I'd hate to do that, but may not have a choice. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  2. You don't HAVE to use Vortex to use mods from Nexus. I've used Nexus Mod Manager for years and have no problems. When something seems to go wrong with mods or the game in general, people on this site are always able and willing to help. Perhaps it's because I'm old and maybe a little set in my ways, but I don't really trust mods from other sites. I've tried some on occasion, but there always seems to be some sort of problem, and as you've noticed, support for said mods is lacking.
  3. Yeah, but she isn't alive. I understand your reasoning, but Nora gets shot right off the bat. How do you bypass that? Ok, nevermind. I guess if you play Nora, Nate gets shot. But don't you think that would kind of mess with her mind a bit? I feel she'd turn a bit psycho also. Maybe more so. This would add to any post-pardum issues she already has, don't you think?
  4. My guy usually is a sneaky sniper/thief drifter who uses "Campsite" on the road. For the settlements? He doesn't spend a lot of time in any of them - import a blueprint and touch it up a bit and then he's gone again. The closest I come to a "homebase" is "The Crypt", near Boston Commons where He stores things that he can't bring himself to get rid of (named weapons and arnour, notes, letters and other things he considers trophies or memorabilia. Bobbleheads and magazines also). I usually head to Goodneighbor right off the bat and do the quests there, especially the Silver Shroud series, because my guy likes the costume and wears it for the rest of the game. Then up to Bunker Hill to do the 2 quests up there, usually getting hooked into doing the Cabot series. After which, if I'm using Depravity, I start that series, otherwise I go bail Preston out. I love that Campsite mod and won't be without it.
  5. I just ran across this mod - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/42805 - duel wield a .45 and a tactical knife. Neither are very powerful, but it's fun to dual wield them. Some nice animations to go with them. The modder's name is tooun, I believe. Check it out for a bit of extra fun.
  6. OK, so I guess I misused the word "tracking". Got you to look it up though, didn't I? Sorry to mislead you (but I knew what I meant he, he)
  7. Yup, suicide. Lately, (Or I should say, since then he, he) I don't mod the shotgun with anything but the quick eject drum mag. I also try not to use it unless absolutely necessary. My sniper is only supposed to be equipped with the bare necessities. Sniper rifle, silenced pistol, and of course my K. Tooth. Yeah, that also leaves out all but the basic armor. In fact, after I do the Silver Shroud quest, my guy wears the Silver Shroud costume.
  8. I used a cheapy Mossberg 500 pump 12 gauge for bird hunting and even deer hunting (with slug rounds). That's a decent 12 gauge, but it looks like it's the grand daddy of this AA-12. Not made for the woods of Wisconsin, obviously. Would have been nice in 'Nam years ago. He, he
  9. I made the mistake of modding a combat shutgun with Explosive rounds. Did a lot of damage, but every second time I pulled the trigger, I killed myself. He, he YES!!!! That Simply Better Sneaking mod is what I was looking for. That and the Sneaky Kills mod are fun when used together, I'm finding out. Sneaky Kills pretty much just does the kill move animations. Having fun with the two of them.
  10. Navmesh - tracking for NPC's. Easiest way to descrbe it.
  11. The quest is triggered by Rex's radio message. Have you listened to Trinity Tower Redio?
  12. Yeah, the whole stealth thing in Fallout 4 sucks, but I contnue to try and use it, because... well, that's what I am. A stealthy sniper-thief. Can't get past that. I hate power armor and refuse to use it. (Playing as a tank in Elder Scrolls Online - you need serious backup), Melee characters are sorta fun, but usless for a serious playthrough. No matter how I start the game, I always end up as a stealthy sniper-thief. Usually not as stealthy as I'd like. He, he That's why I started carrying a combat shotgun.
  13. You should be able to go back to Preston and he'll tell you Sturgess has info on getting back into the Institute. (You DID get the holotape from him before you entered the Institute and do the net scan and then return it to him. Right? OIK, first I should ask, did you get into the Institute with the minutemen's help? or the railroad's?)
  14. I enjoy using the sneak mods I have now, but I'm always looking for something better. Not something as overpowered as stealth armor or anything like that, but just something that cuts down on the NPC's detection radius a bit. They still spot me way too easily.
  15. Sorry, I can't help you , then. You should really ask on the Vivid mod page.
  16. Yeah, but are they navmeshed? I don't think so, but I may be wrong. One of the modders over at "that other site" recently finished a mod that has a whole set of prefab shacks that he navmeshed. He said he was going to upload the mod here soon. His nick over there is Reginald something - not sure what his nick is here. He's also the modder who created Ivy. The latest version of Ivy is quite advanced.
  17. You get a bit better chance for a kilmove, yeah. You still need to watch how close you are to other npc's, but it isn't as bad as vanilla. The holotape is mainly for weird config choices, for instance - do you wanna enable killmoves for blunt weapons, or be able to use a ripper like a knife for a stealth kill. Weird crap like that
  18. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/19191 Sneaky Kills
  19. Download the new all-in-one version and chose the res you want. Works for me.
  20. ooops! No pirates here, please. (Man, I'm turning into a dick. When did this happen?) He, he
  21. aahhhhh!! I think I found out what it is. The author says that sometimes when the NPC you're sneaking up on is in an idle animation, it'll break the sneak-kill animation. Again, sometimes. Yeah, my guy was going through some boxes. OK, glad I know what's causing it. And it's no big deal since I always save before the kill anyway. Shoot, even with this minor drawback, the mod is still worth using. Don't let a little thing like this make you shy away from checking these mods out Do me a favor and check out the search function on the main Nexus mod page. It doesn't always work for me. (The quick search box)
  22. @nexbil - you ask some pretty good questions, but without mods, there's nothing we can do about it now. Hell, the whole main questline leaves me pretty much in a "blah" state, after running through it a few times. That's why I now play with thuggysmurf's collection of mods. They allow you to make choices that make more sense to me. For instance: I'm not happy with the Institute but why nuke them since they have all that tech that can really aid the Commonwealth in so many ways. The BOS? Nazis/Fascist in my book and they just piss me off. But they do have those neat Vertbirds and that big ole' flying machine, plus a surface military presence. Tame these two and the remaining factions (RR and Minutemen) fall in line. Preston can be banished or even killed if you want, and the mods give you a good reason to do one or the other. (If you need further reason that just that Preston is … Preston. Des..whatever can be talked into standing down and even sorta admires you. All told, they make for a more sensible play-through for me.
  23. Now I've got something else going on with my character. I'm using an enhanced sneak mod that using new animations for a sneak kill. (Love my K. Tooth!) Sometimes, not always, but sometimes after the kill when my character comes back to a standing position, I can only look from side to side. No up and down. I tried to "escape" out of it, and even tried "TFC" and "TCL". No go. The only thing that seems to work is going back to a previous save. Bummer. Must be something with the new animation. Guess I'll head over to the mod's page and see if anyone else is experiencing that and if there's a fix.
  24. Weird. I switched over to MS Explorer from Excite. Got my arrows back. Seems that Excite doesn't allow Java and that was the bugger. Thanks for getting me thinking on the right track. He, he Here's another kind of strange one I just ran into - I'm checking out the companion mod, Ivy, from "that other site" and out of the blue she starts flying around with her arms in the "T' position. So it's like, "s#*!! I broke her already!" I've read about this before, but never experienced it. I calmed down and thought about what I had done with the game since I installed her and it came to me - I had used Looksmenu to change her hair. A bit later, I used the console command, "tcl", to install some turrets in an out-of-reach spot in one of my settlements. Soon after that, Ivy started flying. Out of curiosity, I opened the console again, and sure enough, her ID was still selected when I used "TCL" again. When I hit "enter", selected nothing and left the console, all was well with her. No more flying. OK, now back to testing her. Glad that worked out. He, he
  25. When you go to check out a mod before you download it, there are "Images" of the mod in action in-game supplied by the author of said mod. Right? There are also little arrows on each side of these images so you can page through the images without having to start over from the mod description page. OK. Well, recently I no longer have these little arrows. Anyone know how I can get them back?
