Vagrant0 Posted June 18, 2007 Share Posted June 18, 2007 I don't think there are any. There is just too many small meanings to words for any translation software to make much sense of it. Part of the reason why imported anime is butchered so much is because the translations aren't a simple manner of a 1 for 1 word relationship, but rather that one word can change the meaning of another several words away. Someone who actually understands the language could probably explain further. Depending on what you're trying to translate, you may need to actually learn the language, or atleast some of the language. If it's a website however, and you aren't too concerned about the actual written content (such as modding sites), you can usually navigate by looking at where links on the page go, and a bit of trial and error. When I read Spanish, I don't know the meaning of every word, but by knowing some verbs and their conjugations along with vocab words I can piece together the general idea of the text. Since it hasn't been mentioned what needs translating, any useful alternatives may not be valid. Just to save you time and embarassment, H-games only get translated if they're very popular (google is your friend), or get officially exported to the US. I doubt this is the case since the text is really just a formallity in those cases, but that's the most common reason I can think of why you would need a translation site, without mentioning what you're translating. There are a few others, but let's not go there and just say that you can't. Beside the point, Japanese is a bit more complicated from a translational standpoint, many names, aren't reserved for names. What I mean is that a single word can either be a subject or an adjective. Midori is a person's name, but it also means Green. Since there is no clear noun-verb agreement, translations can usually get a bit odd. Atleast when it comes to small stuff like that. On a sidenote. Please don't be that guy that uses a name in another language that they don't speak, you wouldn't want someone using an American name who doesn't speak a word of english right? As cool as you "think" it may be, it's rather disrespectful of the language, and just makes you look like a stupid Japanophile (in this case atleast). No offense intended. I have come to conclusions:1.Internet translations are total crap2.It's not easy to find some person who wll do it for free3.I do not have enough time or money on my hands to learn japanese.
