Zapata935
I just spoke with my inside guy at a store where I get my PC stuff, he reckons that a game like Skyrim will demand the latest high and dry gear to run it at a decent rate. Hope everyone has been putting pennies in their piggy bank!Best Wishes Zapata935
David Brasher
I have this fear that Skyrim will be completely unplayable since the programmers built it on better computers than any of the rest of us have access to. People might have to wait a few years before computer hardware is powerful enough to run Skyrim. By then, Windows will have come out with a new operating system that is not compatible with Skyrim, and we will be back to the type of problems we are having with Windows Vista / 7 not working perfectly with Oblivion. Zapata935
Calm down dear! I was only suggesting we all need better gear to go through the stormy days ahead! I understand that the computers Bethesda build their games on are ten times more powerful in crunching and graphical matter terms than anything that we, Joe Public can get our hands on. It's all about research and development, Once Bethesda had recouped the outlay for it's hi-tech input into Skyrim, then it will be the time to buy!<BR>Best Wishes Zapata935 Edited April 28, 2011 by Zapata935
BlindGuardian_183
Of course most will run the game at low-medium settings, but will miss out a lot on eye-candies. At least for me, graphics matters a lot, thats one of the reasons i love Oblivion. Hell, I bought a new pc 4 years ago to be able to run it with medium-high settings. Zapata935
If your PC is only 4 years old, maybe you can upgrade your graphics card to compliment Skyrim. I think you are on a winner! My ole gal PC is chugging under steam just running Oblivion at a bearable rate!Best Wishes Zapata935
okappa
Well, if worst comes to worst, we could always just play the console versions. It's definitely not ideal, but it doesn't look like Skyrim will need to be heavily modded to be enjoyable. :/
razorpony
I don't think Skyrim will be the resource hog everyone says it is going to be for one main reason. It's being developed for the exact same generation of platforms (360, PS3) that Oblivion made its debut on. So, where Oblivion was bleeding edge and had very limited test time, Skyrim will be running on platforms that everyone (by now) is very familiar with working on. The devs made this dec ision on purpose according to the interviews I've seen. I'm hoping this will also mean less bugs and more optimized gameplay. If you can run Fallout3, New Vegas, or even Oblivion with high settings I don't see any reason you wouldn't be able to run Skyrim. Having said that, there are a few unknowns such as how CPU hungry the new AI system will be, but like I said before it has to be able to run on an XBOX 360 or PS3. I think we'll be fine. madman132
Previous Posts are rather uninformed i fear. There will not be a Windows incompatible with Skyrim. I can install Morrowind on Win7. Arena and Daggerfall will need the DOSbox to run on win 7. As for eyecandy to be seen in Skyrim: there isn't that much new stuff. The Game will be made to run on the Consoles as well and that Hardware is really old. Oblivion was already pushing it, In Skyrim, Bethesda will have some new tricks to hide some of the less nice looking things.Well, they failed occasionally in the Trailer where we see the same old flat ground. A Machine that can run Oblivion perfectly good isn't all that expensive and wont have much Problems with Skyrim. Bethesda *could* have some Stuff exclusively for the PC Version but i doubt they'll support new fancy techniques modern Graphic chips can do like Tesselation. Again, the Game is build to run on the Consoles and the Hardware of those is pretty old. Go into a town in Oblivion, you have a loading screen. That's because Oblivion was made to run on consoles and the loading screens are there because of the Hardware limitations of those Consoles (who don't have enough ram to keep the towns loaded).
