BigBodZod Posted April 29, 2011 Share Posted April 29, 2011 (edited) Well, since I was having more then normal crashes when the latest patch was applied, I decided to check and test things out. I was having numerous CTD's and/or game freezes after this patch was applied and attempting to reload any of my save games. Here is what I did: 1) Archived my entire save game directory and then deleted it. 2) Uninstall/Deleted local game content from Steam, verified it was uninstalled from Programs Control Panel Applet too. 3) Manually deleted the Fallout New Vegas folder including all my mods and tweaks etc.... 4) Ran Auslogics registry cleaner to verify any leftovers were removed and rebooted my gaming rig. 5) Upon rebooting verified that Steam now showed Fallout New Vegas and not being installed and so promptly started downloading it. 6) After downloading I confirmed the local file cache. 7) Launched the game and reconfigured graphics settings and such and created a new toon. 8 ) After grabbing as much as I could from Doc Mitchell's place I headed out, non-hardcore mode. 9) I promptly went over to the Saloon while grabbing from containers like mailboxes and crates etc... 10) I then proceeded to go in and out of the saloon multiple times, both the front and side doors to see if anything was amiss or would hang/ctd, so far so good, knocks on wood ;) Everything in vanilla seems to be fine, no apparent issues so far. I then installed the latest FOMM v0.13.21 and checked for any load order updates, applied the update and then ran the BOSS load order, well there was nothing to do really as I only had the FalloutNV.esm and the DeadMoney.esm installed. Made sure both were activated and launched the Fallout Loader and checked the settings again to verify nothing went astray. Reloaded my save game and proceeded to test some more, in and out, in and out....talking to folks around town, selling to Chet in the General Store and back to Doc Mitchell as well. I then ran through the tutorial quest with Sunny Smiles, so far so good, did the campfire side-quest too and rooted around inside the schoolhouse and cleared that out. I love cracking safes and practice snapping all those bobby pins. I will post more as I install one at a time mods and/or fomods to the game. EDIT1: OK, installed and tested my first FOMOD, Beware of the Girl v2.0 So far so good, even been playing around with some female NPC's in Primm using the removeallitems console command :P Edited April 29, 2011 by BigBodZod Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm wondering the same thing too, this is why I'm testing things out with a fresh install and no previous saves and then trying out a single MOD/FOMOD at a time :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BigBodZod Posted May 3, 2011 Author Share Posted May 3, 2011 Well, after installing a few mods, first the Beware of the Girl texture mod and then the following, I'm again having CTD's but they are not as often as they were. Also have these mods installed: Electro City with Hiways and BywaysLevel Cap 100 + Perks every levelEpic Skills past 100Warzones My guess is there is something happening with one of more of these mods that is causing some compatibility issues, could even be some sort of problem with the Dead Money DLC content perhaps.
