CTD when loading any save or even starting new game after patch 1.3.47

Started a new game without a problem and played for 6 hours straight without a single CTD. Build a lot of stuff from every category and workbench without any problems.

Old saves will still load outside a settlement but CTD on fast travel. So something in the patch does something to something in my save that might or might not be mod related because with the exact same mods active a new game does'nt give any problems.

Do have to upgrade quite a few mods to newer versions. Will see if i can get that old save to work.

now I am very scared to go home and play this game after reading all this lol

thanks to those who post what their problem was.

[EDIT] Oh by the way, last night I added one more mod to my addition: No power required mod for the lightbox.

I got in the game, played at the spot where I continued my saved game (in the middle of santuary) building like 30 lightboxes just to see if the mod works (which it did).

Then I scrapped everything because it was just a little fun on a random spot. And then I started running around the santuary and within like 2 to 3 seconds, I am on desktop.

I was like "what??". So I deactivated the mod and went back to the save game. Then I played about 1.5 hour without any issues.

I do not have any ENB or anything that would change so much of the game files.

Mostly standalone weapons, armor, and of course CBBE. Most changing mod would be like the Worsin's power armor mod that 'adds' to default power armor menu.

Well I do not even know if my game got this patch yet or not anyways. So I am still scared.

Having the same issues. I've tried every suggested fix in this thread, gone through the few mods I have on trying to find the culprit, turned my graphics down, started new mod free games. I still crash on trying to enter concord. As far as I can tell it's only there, but concord is kinda important to a new game and my old (more heavily modded) saves aren't working now either. I have reinstalled Fallout to make sure all non-vanilla files were gone as part of the troubleshooting process and still can't get into concord.

Admittedly I'm not running the most fancy machine ever (it's a semi elderly X51) and I am by no means an expert programmer/modder. I'm starting to think this is just a patch issue and I will just have to wait until the game is optimized enough again for an eternal tech noob with a 3 year old system to be able to play again. Just sorta figured I'd throw a post up here to see if anyone had any suggestions I hadn't tried/thought of yet.

stupid patch...

Well, My method of fixing it isnt really fixing it..

I found that steam only updated too 1.3... so I went into steam... validated.... which updated it to 1.3.47 (even worst).... then I used the patch revert back to 1.2.37, which was the last stable patch we had before all hell broke loose..

I then went into my firewall and blocked steam from accessing the internet .... (it pops up a window and just click "PLAY OFFLINE")

Works fine for me, just like before that god awful 1.3 patch..

** UPDATE **

after reverting back.... I had to start a new game, the patch corrupted all my save games, and it would CTD right to the desktop upon load..

went to the drive - in with a new character.... ** MIND YOU THIS WAS FOR TEST PURPOSES ** In God Mode, Spawned in 100 legendary raiders..... playing in ULTRA graphics mode, on a gamers laptop... (just so ya know my laptop is less powerful then a high end desktop).. killed the first series of 100 raiders..... I fast travelled out, and fast travelled back... Not one issue...

I currently have a list of 159 mods installed, 138 active.... (have no clue how to use half them but atleast I have em).... So I think I will stay with the old 1.2 version of the game for now... I love killing things...

Game won't run for more than 10 seconds for me since 1.3.

I was starting to wonder if I'd ever play again, as bethesda seem to be ignoring our problems.

Luckily, there's now an easy way to roll back:

No more crashing

Had no problems running the beta patch but now that it's official the game crashes right after the "Please Stand By" screen appears. Doesn't matter whether I run it using NMM or without mods using the regular Fallout 4 launcher. The game crashes right there almost every time, though a few times I can get to the main menu before it crashes. Very frustrating.

As a last resort, I deleted all my retexture mods and fixed the problem. I know the "Grafix" mods didn't play nice with the update, but even after deleting them, I had some problems with CTDs when exiting an interior cell. i will just play with vanilla textures until the CK comes out and people much smarter than me can make everything play nice together.

Also, if you use NMM, you can't just disable the mods. You have to (for me, at least) actively delete all retextures from your mod list.

I'm sure that many retextures are compatible, but I just decided to nip the whole problem in the bud.

I too had a major problem with the 1.3.47 patch. I found a link that reverts the game to previous updates but you will have to play Steam offline or make your FO4 folder read only otherwise it will just automatically update again.

The link is http://www.speedrun.com/Fallout_4/thread/fvo80. The author is Dalet.

My CTD was went I went into certain cells not a CTD upon loading and I have finished the main story line. As a bonus it also fixed certain corrupted textures.

Hope this works for you. Below is the post from Dalet:

Disclaimer: you must own a legal PC copy of the game to use this patch, it does not contain any original game file.

How to use:
1. Extract all files to Fallout 4's directory (where Fallout4.exe is located)
2. Run patch.bat (do not close while patching!!)

Notes:
-You might need to launch patch.bat as admin if the game is in Program Files.
-You can delete the files you extracted and the .bak files after patching.
-If you closed the window while it was patching and now have corrupted files, you can restore them by renaming the .bak files. Verifying the game cache in Steam is also an option.

Each patch requires a specific version of the game. You can see your version number in the game settings.
