CTD's on wait, sleep, fast travel - I've tried everything!

Hi everyone, I hate to clog these forums with another "OMFG MY GAM IZ BROKED" but I have no idea what is wrong. I'll have you know that I am playing Oblivion on a Dell Inspirion N5030 Laptop, Win 7, with a piece of %$^& GPU that is (I believe, I lack the balls or scrotum to check it out for sure) soldered to the motherboard due to the lacking of logic in the manufacturing of laptops. I'm saving to build (I hope) a new DESKTOP rig, but for now I'm stuck with this.

 

Anyways, I've logged about 100 hours total on my character saves on the PC, plus another 110 on the XBOX (inspired me to buy the PC version). I can handle the utter lack of speed that my pc supports even in a 2006 game, but what I despise is the rampant bugs that come with all the customization. I'd been mostly fine across all my characters, until loading up Deadly Reflex 6 (b101). I know, I know, "OMFG DR H8er, LETS IGNORE HIS PLIGHT!" but to be honest, I enjoy the mod's functions, I think it's incredibly hard to play a true warrior, assassin, or any other melee character without the sleep-stabbing, throat-cutting, shield-bashing, etc. etc. But, Ive had countless issues with it. The two characters I had at the time survived another ~3-5hrs of playtime each, before ALWAYS CTD'ing whenever I got the "I feel an explosive power inside..." message, but I could've received such a notification any number of times, until it finally trashed those games (they get the notification within seconds, and immediately CTD. I created a new character, who suffered the same fate after ~8 hours of playtime. Casting Combustive Convulsion also causes a CTD on any of my saves, as did the Weapons Throwing (I dl'ed the mesh patch recently, still have to test throwing again).

 

 

I've moved the entire oblivion folder from Program Files(x86) (default Windows 7 location) to My Games, I've run BOSS more times then I care to count, I've tried to find out the CTD error number (to no avail), and those characters are still damaged. I've attempted deactivating the DR6 omod, no dice. My new character, who doesn't have the same problem, now crashes on any form of wait/fast travel/sleeping, I've turned off all the autosave functions without any results. I love this game and all its mods, so much, but I just can't play it constantly on a single char because of these, and the game loses its edge VERY fast creating a new character every 3-10 hours of playing.

I hope you've found the problem by now.

 

If not the problem is most likely a corrupted save. Load previous saves until you find one that works and start over from there.

 

Auto-save is notorious for corrupted saves. If you load one you can get this problem (or not).

 

Save often and the fix is quick and painless.
