Ghoulz
What's best to use for something simple like changing armor from light to heavy? I tried with CS and I cannot save any changes because the esp is in use or w/e. I have no idea how to get around that.
alex2avs
use CS construction set. make sure the esp is active or load just oblivion.esm - tes4edit is used to edit and clean mods that are already created.
David Brasher
Are you using Windows Vista / Windows 7? If that is the case, you can't really make and use mods well until you take measures to get around the problem operating system. the best approach is to reinstall Oblivion and your modding software in any directory outside of "Program Files" where the ridiculous security system treats mods like mal-ware and stops them in their tracks to protect your computer. stars2heaven
You are most likely getting this error message because you have some other program open that deals with your esp. That could include the game itself, OBMM, TES4 Edit, or any other program that can be used to alter your .esp in any way. In order to alter and save your .esp make sure that you only have the CS open at the time (and not multiple instances of the CS with the same mod loaded) and not other programs that are relevant to the game. I have to disable the esp from OBMM? Well that's weird, I changed the voice of a race with CS, and had no problem saving it(well, a little trouble at first). David Brasher
I have to disable the esp from OBMM? I don't really understand the question. To me the phrase "disable the .esp" means to either deactivate it in a mod manager so you don't see content from the mod while playing Oblivion or to remove the file from Oblivion\Data or else delete it so that you certainly won't see any content from it and so it will not slow down your load time (because the computer briefly looks at all the mods in the directory regardless of whether or not they are active.) What stars2heaven is saying is that you must not open up your mod in two programs at once. (The exception being that the mod can be open and saved in the CS and you can open Oblivion and conduct a play-test, then close Oblivion and continue working in the CS. You must not save the mod in the CS while Oblivion is running. You must close Oblivion before modding in the CS.) So what I am saying is that you should only have the CS open while saving a mod in the CS.
