[BUG] [SOLVED] "Missing components" error while attempting to start ModBuddy

Turns out that Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Isolated Shell redistributable package shipped with the tool requires Win XP SP 3 and thus can't be installed for Win 7. The solution is to download it manually.

Also, read XCOM 2 SDK\Documentation and install XCOM 2 SDK\Binaries\Redist\UE3Redist.exe package.

Thanks for the Info

Uhh neat, modsupport. This means we most likely dont need to bang our heads against integrity checks again

Did you find the time to have a look at it yet ?

Well, it was actually my first mod that started XCOM2 forum. The tool looks good. But needs getting used to.

So I ran through the quickstart, installed the Redist stuff and got ModBuddy to launch, but for some reason I can't open any files. Checked cache and everything seems fine, but it just doesn't work, and internet is being remarkably unhelpful. Anyone got any ideas on what could be wrong and how to fix it? (This is on Windows 8.1 64-bit)

I'm not sure what could be the problem. Our development machines are also running Windows 8.1 64-bit, and I didn't see any issues like that, although I installed the VS Shell and SDK a few months ago, so my memory isn't fresh.

You might double check that you are launching the SDK through steam, and not trying to launch the Visual Studio shell directly. I always launch the SDK through Steam.

The only other configuration I had to do was setting up the paths to the game and SDK folders.

I am starting it through Steam (I don't even really see a way to start it outside it).

I wonder if the fact that I have VS 2013 Preview installed on my computer too... I guess I'll try uninstalling both and reinstalling and see if that changes anything.

Ok, ran the the isoshell.exe but I keep getting an error when trying to run UE3Redist (corrupt). Going to try a few things. Anyone else getting this error?

SOLVED: Need to run the UE3Redist as Admin.. derp...little rusty

I keep getting 404'd when following the aforementioned link to manually download VS 2013... am I SoL for getting modbuddy working on Windows 7?

I run windows 7 and I just clicked on the redistributables. They worked fine.

Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but since I get a 404 error when following the link wghost provided... how do I get the redistributables?
