Help! Druid Tree Home

I haven't posted very many times, and I've never posted on this forum but.. it's 2:04am... and I am so frustrated.

My laptop crashed and so I had to install Oblivion on my desktop computer. I was already mad about losing my game, but now my favorite house mod won't work.

I've installed and deleted and reinstalled the Druid Tree Home 3 times now. When I fast-travel to it, I see a shadowy shape of it, but the graphics are large and distorted. I kind of got confused on the first extraction of the mod because it had a folder that said "Optional" and so I installed all of it. However, after it wouldn't work, I took it all off and put only the regular folders on. I have gone through every folder and made sure that things are where they are supposed to be. I am just at a loss.

Would it help if I added the "natural vegetation" mod that the "Optional Files" folder was referring to? Or should I just find myself a new favorite home?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I had a different extraction program on my laptop-

Any help will be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs a list of my mods, I can post them. But, they are the same ones that I was running on my laptop.

~thanks

Hey Suzy...

I'm kind of new at modding so I'm not entirely sure I'll be a ton of help, but I sense your desperation (I'd be desperate too...I love my house!) and I felt like I should try to help...:)

Did/do you use OBMM to run the mod, or did you just extract it straight into your data folder? Did you install it differently on your laptop, when you first installed it? I'd say, and this is only a half-educated guess - try the vegetation mod. Visit the mod's page and make sure you have all the dependencies (which I'm sure you have, five hundred times...I guess I'm just curious).

Also, if you do use OBMM, try messing with the load order. Try moving Druid Tree Home up and down, maybe try loading it first, then loading it last. Sometimes Oblivion is funny about the order in which things load, and it really can make all the difference...

I'm just shooting in the dark, but I hope you get your house back! :(

Thanks for the quick reply LA. The only dependency is SI and I have the GOTY Edition. I've never tried OBMM because it just sounded so complicated and I've never had a problem I couldn't fix before.

I DID find out after I posted last night... the house on the inside is fine. It has to be a vegetation problem and I'm not running any vegetation mods or visual enhancers of any kind.

Soooooo.. I added all of the optional files by mistake and seemingly can't get them off.

I think I'll take your advice and add the vegetation mod and pray it works and hope I don't have to ho back to the sewers and start over again.

It blows you have to go through that whole tutorial to find out if your mods are working.

Ok.. I'll stop whining now and try to decide which "Natural Vegetation " mod to add since I included the files for 2 versions of it.

Thanks :)

LOL....smartphones aren't so smart...I have an iPhone...it's even worse! :-P

Actually, you don't! Check out Alternative Start Arrive By Ship by Robert_evrae:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11495

Just run it, look at the book on the table, roll whatever character, go to sleep on the bed, and start in the IC Waterfront. Much faster!

As for your house itself - and OBMM - hopefully the vegetation mod fixes the outside of your house. If not...I know it's intimidating and *can* be a little complicated, but I'd urge you to install and run OBMM (my partner's computer is Windows 7, so I have to right click and "run as administrator"). But once you're on the screen, it's painless. Your mods come right up on the left panel, and you can click on one and then click "move up" or "move down"...this helps you a lot because some mods won't even work at all if they aren't loaded in a certain order, and I don't think there's an easy way to do it with vanilla Oblivion. If this *is* the case, then last time maybe you just happened to install your mods in a certain order they worked in...this time, it may not have turned out that way. If you continue to run into problems, this would be the next step I'd take, personally. I don't understand a lot of the coding stuff either...it makes my head spin...but take my word when I say this is easy. :)

And if you need help with it, I'm totally here - you can message me on here or at heathengirl.mandy @ gmail.com, and we'll do what we can to get you your house back. :)

By the way...what is the "concealed house" thing...does that feature make it invisible? O.o

You have a really good point- I think you said it before, but I didn't catch it. When I loaded my Tree Home the first time, I was already in the middle of a game. I wasn't even sure it would work- but I worked fine. This time, since is was so important to me, I added it FIRST.

I'm going to download the mod manager and try that before I add the vegetation mod. Maybe that will fix it. If I can't figure out how to use it, I will be asking you questions.

Thanks again! :)

Hey, of course...I'm desperately needing help with a modding issue myself right now, so I feel that much more ready to help with something I actually kinda sorta know!

Let me know how it works out, and I'm here if you need help. :)

Edit: I took a look around at the Druid Tree Home, and I noticed some things I wanted to ask you about...

There's four different .esp's. (and of course, as you know, the .esp you load is the one you'll get)...and of course, some of them may conflict. Maybe try loading the first one by itself, then trying out the extras to see if it makes a difference. Did you try to load both natural vegetation ones at the same time?

Just thinking out loud...

@LadyAubrie- I accidentally loaded all of them the first time. When I went back to take both of the vegetation mods off, it was still messed up, so I thought I was headed back to the sewers... YUCK! However, I took it all off, and put it back on again- only the main and the one that keeps wild animals from attacking when you arrive. Then I put it at the very bottom of the load order. I also ran the conflict manager and it had no conflicts that showed up.

I went back to my game and hurray! it's there. It's jumpy, but my laptop was a gaming computer and so it's never going to look on my home computer like it did on my laptop.

@Telyn- I've not heard of BOSS. What is it? All that I could figure out on OBMM is how to change load order and run the conflict utility.

Thanks for the help. My game is running as well as it's going to, everything is working, and I learned some new stuff.

Thanks again!
