Telyn
Will the game launch without any mods?
bben46
If you were running using Steam, even if you uninstalled it will probably leave entries behind in the Windows registry that will cause problems. I'm not sure if my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure finds all of the Steam/Oblivion registry entries or not. I would appreciate some feed back on this if you do try it. You may have to run it twice if you haven't uninstalled the Steam version before installing the box version. First time uninstall the box version. Second time uninstall the steam version. Then install the box version in the new location. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240 It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice. ETPC
Yeah, the game launches fine without any mods loaded. As for registry problems, I'll try that!
bben46
If it launches without mods then the registry is probably OKDo you have the latest patch installed?Do you have OBSE installed AND are you starting the game with OBSE instead of using the Oblivion Launcher? Telyn
You can also do the classic brute force method of disabling half of your mods. If game crashes, the problem is in the half that is still active. Load half of the group that crashed before. Repeat until you find the culprit. Because you are using overhauls, this is a bit trickier. I would start by disabling everything that is not an official DLC, a patch for Oblivion or the DLCs, or FCOM. Hoping your problem is not with FCOM. Anything else would be easier to fix. eric31415
After looking over your load order, i noticed that you have a problem with Clocks Of Cyrodill. The esp your'e using is just the patch for Open Cities, which your'e not using.Hope it was this easy.update; i may be wrong about this. after checking out better cities, i think you may have it right. ETPC
Telyn: I tried that and it works except for when I use a bashed patch. Then it crashes. And I need a bash patch for the future. BBen: Latest patch and latest OBSE are installed and running fine. I use obse_loader to launch the game.
Telyn
It sounds like your bashed patch needs rebuilding. Did you by any chance check the Candles for Kleptos or Tamrielic ingredients in the bashed patch, when those didn't apply to you? That's one common cause of bashed patches crashing the game. I'd also uncheck the tweaks while troubleshooting.
ETPC
Nope, I didn't check any of that. I rebuild the bash patch with each mod I install.
Telyn
Please list which options you check when you rebuild your patch. Evidently something is not right with your bashed patch, so we need to find a way to fix that.
