TES4Edit - need help identifying "implicit dependencies"

Hello,

Been doing a bit of very light mod cleaning with TES4Edit based on BOSS logs. I HAVE read the excellently well written help page on the CS wiki, but I'm still a little unsure about the following two esps which need to be cleaned:

storms & sounds.esp

rainbows.esp

Now, I'm running Enhanced Weather, and I'm thinking that s & s is dependant on EW as the sounds it plays (indoors) will depend on the weather type outside, which is governed by EW. Rainbows I'm not so sure about, as it may just be adding something completely new to the oblivion.esm, but then again I think weather conditions determine whether a rainbow shows, so it probably is EW dependant?? In which case, I should load up EW in TES4Edit when I am cleaning both of those esps. (note TES4Edit doesn't load up EW automatically, so it clearly is not an explicit dependency).

So, I hope you understand my thinking, but I'm new to TES4Edit so not sure about what to do, and would really appreciate some advice from more experienced users. Thanks!

It might be quicker to just clean them and then test them to see if they work afterward rather than waiting for someone who actually knows the answer to see your post.

Before you do the modcleaning, just be sure that you have a backup. The compressed downloaded mod files that you probably keep in your archive would be the only backup you would really need.

The fact that TES4Edit does not automatically open any other files when you open the mods in question makes me suspect that they do not have any special .esp or .esm dependencies. (In-game, there could be dependencies on files such as custom sounds, meshes, and textures which are of no concern to TES4Edit.)

If you do need help on this, the thread you'd probably want to post in is here: http://forums.bethso...-cleaning-list/

I don't think either of those are dependent, because I have a rainbow mod and a sound mod that work with All Natural. I am pretty sure David is right that Tes4Edit would load Enhanced Weather if there is a dependency. I can't remember about the sound mod, but I know my rainbow mod did not need All Natural loaded.

Dependant means there is a "master" assigned to the esp, or "master" being another esp or esm. This master will be listed in TES4Edit in the File Header section of the plugin. Be very careful, and Telyn gave the best place to start as this is a new undertaking in that thread and all involved are proficient and expert.
