Male characters face tint darker/more red than body?

I have an issue with my male characters (the player character) and all male NPCS face being slightly darker or more red than their body. This happens no matter if I have any texture or mesh mod that alters male character appearance. I have tried the f4 fix in the creation kit but I dont think this is the gray face bug....

Here are some example shots:

it happens with or without my ENB enabled as well...

Anyone ever seen this?

Yeah, it seems to have been an issue since vanilla Skyrim. I've quazi fixed it by adjusting the head mesh a little higher (the head was inside the neck for some reason and not aligned as the female head on the female body is) as well as making sure that the sub-maps are properly aligned (color wise); then I've edited the mesh files to reflect lighting as the UNP body does (used it as a way to judge what the intervals in the mesh should be changed to).

The only thing I didn't alter yet is the diffuse map. It seems that either the diffuse colors don't align with the body at the neck or the head mesh has something going on with it making it lighter than it should be; I'll continue tinkering with this until I find a fix for it but that is all I've got for now.

ok i have seen this before and just solved it. what you need to do is open it in CKand find the head skin texture set. it will be named something like SkinHeadMaleNord* for example.

go ahead and open that up. there will be a box at the top with a face texture and an array of texture layers on the left of it.

select the "DETAIL MAP" then go directly under that array and click the ADD IMAGE button and make sure the directory is as follows:

actors\character\facegendata\face geom\MODNAME.esp\00000000.dds

NOT

actors\character\facegendata\FaceTint\MODNAME.esp\00000000.dds

do that and it should correct the issue for anyone using that face texture set.

it sounds like someone made a head with race menu and exported it then tried to rig the strings by hand.

the nif its self handles the face tint. its an easy mistake to make.

hope this helps anyone else having this issue

EDIT: you may have to export a new geom map if that mod came packed like that. but as long as you rig it correct after in CK you will be fine.
