Increase skill enchantments actually decreasing skill.

Here's a comparison of what was happening. It actually was a little bit more wierd than i said. Some stats went up that i didn't even change while others decreased.

Like i said i still have to do a redo and i'll see if everything is working.

Most modders have some graphics tool, like gimp or photoshop anyway. So it is easy to bring up the screenshot in the graphics tool, crop it, and then add the rectangle or circle.

Yeah I have Gimp but I have very rarely used it for anything except viewing dds. I can only remember ever doing only one actual edit involving adding text to dds. But that is the hot ticket? Just load your screenshot up in Gimp?

And this was being caused by your helmet mod right? The body armor is all good now?

Yeah for the most part. Although some stats raise up that i'm not tying to increase. Not a big deal though, forward progress has been made thanks to you. The key was doing the steps you pointed out to me; editing the old enchantment templates caused the weirdness. I successfully made new enchantments that work on both the helm and armor. Hooray! I think it may be time for an ESP rewrite. Scrub out the old stuff that might cause problems.

Thanks again for the help! I was going crazy trying to figure out what was happening. :D

OK i figured out the problem. Whenever i try to remove or modify any of the old enchants from a template it will mess everything up. When i just add new enchants to the old template and leave the old enchants alone nothing happens. I'm definitely thinking it's time to remake the mod from the ground up.

Right on bro glad it all worked out :) Remember before scrubbing something in the master object list of what ever category you are scrubbing to first right click on the object./item A flyout window will open for that item and the bottom choice is "USE INFO". Click that and another window will open telling you every other item in the game that calls/uses that particular enchantment or armor or weapon script NPC etc what ever object /item you want to clean up. You can really screw up your mod by accidently deleting something that is used by more than one source. That is also why it is good to make a new template when doing the type of editing in objects effects like you are doing so it only affects the items you want it to affect..

The example of clothingadventureware that I used is actually used 14 times by other armors in the game. If I make a change in that template I change all 14 items that call on clothingadventurewear. If I delete that enchantment then 14 enchanted items are no longer enchanted

Man, i had another setback. But i fixed it. The problem was after all of this was the old enchantments. They couldn't even be included in the ESP at all; I had to scrub them from the ESP completely because the old enchantment templates would negatively effect the new enchantments even though they weren't attached to *any* of the armors i was working on. I disabled the old ones and they still had a bad effect. So, i removed the old templates, the new test template and made it as though none of the armors ever even had any enchantment applied to them ever. I totally stripped them from the ESP. I then started up the game to make sure there were no more traces and i made a "clean save". Then i went back into GECK and made a new armor enchantment template for one of the armors. It worked! I can actually equip and un-equip my armor now with no permanent stats loss and i get the proper stats increases that i was looking for. This has been unbelievable. I consider this case clo....... :::RECORD SCRATCHES:::

Just when you think you know, you find out you don't know jack ****

Disregard what i just said :wallbash:

Things were going so well. I made a new Armor and Helmet Template without a hitch, they were working perfectly. Then i had the bold idea to make another template for another armor set... guess what? the problem popped up again. I simply don't get it. This is so obnoxious. There is no reason why this is happening. I made the second enchantment templates the exact same way i made the first set and now neither work.

EUREKA!

tHE PROBLEM THIS WHOLE TIME WASN'T THE ENCHANTMENTS AT ALL! Oops! Sorry for the caps. The problem is the saves. I would load up a save with one of the armors already on, it was confusing the game somehow. As soon as i reloaded from a save that i knew i wasn't wearing any of the newly edited armors the problem was gone! omg, ima gon cry like a bebe.

When you were making changes to the object effects, did you re-add the item to the player at the console for testing, or were you trying to use the same items that you already had in your inventory, that had been in your save game with the old effects?

Yeah, same items. But reloading from a different save where i wasn't wearing the armor solved the problem. I'm just so mad i didn't think of this last night. i was up till 5 am trying to figure out what was wrong and it never occurred to me.
