New to Oblivion - What mods should I install?

The unofficial patches are a must. They fix lots of bugs and other things Bethesda didn't even care about fixing with the official patches.

Get any of the big four overhauls: Francesco's Leveled Creatures & Items, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, WarCry, or Martigen's Monster Mod (Or run any of those at the same time with FCOM). Alternatively, you could get Waalx's Animals & Creatures. They all fix the shitty level-scaling that Bethesda implemented. (There's no reason why a bandit should wear glass armor or why weaker enemies should disappear entirely after you get to a certain level.)

COBL's also a good mod to have. It adds several custom races (There's a custom race fix that comes with the Unofficial Oblivion Patch and is needed if you ever play custom races), overhauls racial abilities and birthsigns, and adds items from Daggerfall and Morrowind into Oblivion. Since I got that mod, I can never go back to the vanilla racial abilities and birthsigns.

LowPoly Grass will help if you're having performance issues whenever you're in grass but don't want to turn it off.

Unique Landscapes and Better Cities add more scenery porn to Oblivion than anything Bethesda dreamed up.

@suzypike:

Using the computer you plan to play the game on Go here to see if your computer can run the game http://www.systemreq...tslab.com/cyri/

You will find the various game we support

Oblivion listed as 'The Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion

Fallout3 as Fallout3 PC

Dragon Age listed as Dragon age

Fallout New Vegas as Fallout: New Vegas

Morrowind is not listed, However if you can run Oblivion at all it should run well on your system.

Note: TES V - Skyrim is not listed as no one knows what the final requirements will be yet.

As for Oldblivion, It allows SOME older video cards to be used to play Oblivion. Your FPS and resolution will be determined by the processor, Ram and video card combination. Your mileage may vary considerably. However I think development stopped some time ago. It also will not work with many mods.

Right, the Steam version acts the same as the physical versions. You can put unofficial patches in, mod it like crazy, and use OBSE. It's not encrypted or anything like the D2D version.

I just opened up Oblivion again this past weekend. I figured I would take a run through while waiting for Skyrim. I decided to install FCOM again and try to make the run through. My first install and 2 hours of work went wasted. Crashed all over the place (old remnants from when I uninstalled 2 years ago). Cleaned everything up and got it running with a bunch of other mods. Trying out that High Imperial class and spent an hour getting the graphics just right.

Once in game, the stats blow on the character during the tutorial. I got killed by a rat. It is not until you get towards the middle when the stats become playable. I hope I enjoy the game through this time to make it through the end.

What looking for is the best companion mod to play with, the best mods for graphics i saw Quarl's Pack and someone mentioned Uniuqe Landscapes and better cities. So give the best ones that work without problems ie maybe natural environments hmmm im not sure because im still new to playing with mods but not game vanilla. :wallbash: Edited by Doatg
