kevkiev
All of a sudden, I can't initiate any dialogue with 2 of my 5 Sanctuary settlers that I set up with stores. I can talk to the 3 other setter/vendors in Sanctuary, and I haven't run into any other vendors (including my other settlement vendors), or any other NPCs for that matter, that do this. I found a couple things on the 'net, but no solutions. I read one post by someone who had this happen with 1 vendor, then it spread to others eventually - kinda troubling. Any suggestions? wax2k
Assign them to another store or plant or whatever, then reassign them to the affected store. If that doesn't help, try unassigning them and scrap the stores and rebuild them before assigning them again. If that doesn't help, try sending the affected settlers to another settlement and wait until they arrive there, then send them back and try it again. kevkiev
Amazingly enough... false alarm. Things went back to normal out of the blue. Anyways, those were excellent suggestions (from the "why didn't I think of that" dept.!) that I'm going to stash away in case I get a more serious case of this bug. Thanks for replying wax2k. wax2k
Not the most satisfying outcome, since it's always better to know what the cause was, but better than nothing  Edited February 12, 2016 by wax2k
kevkiev
Yeah, that's true. As it turned out, I ran into another settler/vendor glitch soon enough. This time with 2 of my 4 Taffington Boathouse vendors. The clinic and weapons dealer are fine but, although I got the "talk" thingy, I can't initiate barter dialogue with either the restaurant vendor or clothing store vendor. The restaurant vendor would simply give me the usual settler banter (good day is full stomach etc.), while the clothing store vendor only gave me "yeah?" or "huh?" as though he was some random wastelander. There's no interaction possible with either, not even to trade equipment. I tried all the suggestions above, but nothing worked. I thought for a moment that moving to another settlement and moving back worked, as on the return I got the normal dialogue. But when the shop opened (it was night when they returned) it was back to glitchiness. I kinda wonder if it's something to do with Taffington specifically. Oddly enough, I was unable to build a restaurant at my desired location (new structure just south of the original - kinda starts on the banks and goes over the water) but no restaurant showed up in the stores menu. When I went to the north end of the boundary (i.e. by the original house) the restaurant showed up in the menu so I selected it, walked over to where I wanted it, and activated. Although I didn't have that problem with the clothing store. However, one time the restaurant vendor wandered over to the original house and I was able to activate the barter dialogue. Once she returned to the restaurant though, it was again bugged. The 2 vendors that work okay, though, are next to the clothing store, so they seem unaffected by location. So I'm kinda at a loss. I found another post on the net where someone couldn't access the restaurant in the stores menu except while at the northern part of Taffington (he did what I did - select it there then move over and activate), but there was nothing about not being able to initiate barter dialogue. I think I'll start another thread since the topic is quite different from the original. Maybe someone's run into this before.
wax2k
Hm, do you use any of the mods that expand the build area at Taffington or provide rebuilt houses or make any other specific changes there? If you post your mod load order in spoiler tags, I'll take a look for something that leaps to the eye.Another idea that just crossed my mind... maybe the affected stores are built exactly on cell borders so that they are accessible from two cells? Try entering tb in the console. It toggles the cell borders to be shown ingame so you could check if it's related to that. kevkiev
Thanks. Nope, I don't use anything that affects Taffington specifically. My plugins: http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/NMM%20Load%20Order%20Feb%2012_zpspgmzq6pi.jpg Fwiw, here's a screenie of the store locations (clinic is directly behind the clothing store). The original house is just out of the pic, to the left. I don't think it's a border thing, especially since the clinic is fine, but I'll give that console command a try. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/Taffington_zpsrlauwvuv.png edit: tried toggling borders, and got a "borders on" message in console, but didn't see anything different at the settlerment. Also, tried disabling/enabling the clothing store vendor in console - no diff. Edit2: dammit, just went to Finch Farm and got the same routine from the restaurant vendor there. Just "huh?" and "yeah?" as though I was talking to a drifter out in the wild. The only esp. mod I've installed recently is "Gorgeous Vault Girl" and, though it made no sense it would affect things, I disabled it anyways and, sure enough, no change. edit3: tried scrapping the stores (tier 3 - emporium) and rebuilding as tier 2 and then tier 1. No change. Found more posts on the net from a lot of people running into this same problem, but no solution has been found. Not sure, but it seems that restaurants and clothing stores are the usual culprits. Chalking this up to yet another bug in this bugged out game. wax2k
Umm, when using tb, you should see the cell borders in yellow and light blue. Just like in this pic from Sanctuary, but definitely also from ground level: http://oi64.tinypic.com/52mq8.jpg Edited February 14, 2016 by wax2k
