blove
Have you checked your video card temps? The 48xx cards had an issue with drivers and default fan speeds.
CommodoreBlitz
ya, never got higher then 35c. , Now that I've gone back to the geforce 7900gs Its stable, had on for more then 20hrs with no crashes. Tho I have not find all the stats for the PsU that came with my case, I found a reference to the brand, ARK. looks like my PSU cost if bought without the case about $16. I have not made my mind up as even tho I have been building pc's for over 20 years I have always just bought the cheapest I could find..but this is the first time I have had one with such high "power" req. my old system a Asus P800s-x mb with a P4 2..4 ghz cpu (single core) and a ATI 9800 256meg (agp)Video card tho powerful (and expensive at the time...I spend over $3k) I doubt it used anywhere near the power my current system needs. CommodoreBlitz
well, I finnly made up my mind and bought a PSU, this is this one link just bought it on newegg.com, it has 8A @ 115V, 5A @ 230V Output +3.3V@24A, +5V@15A, +12V1@20A, +12V2@20A, [email protected], [email protected] and it arrived today, not bad 2 day shipping from Newegg for only $1.93. (at lest that's what they charge me when I bought a dvd r/w drive with it) But it might have been too late tho....tho there is no visible damage to the card, when I have the 4850 installed all I get is 2 Beeps from the Bios and nothing, the system won't boot....But If put back in the old Geforce 7900gs (which also had random reboots with the old PSU, but uses about 30watts less power) works and after 4hours seems stable.... Could the card still not be getting enough power or is it damaged.....the combined watts on the new psu for the 12v is over 300watts and that's more then twice what the card needs.
